Just out of curiosity for those that throw jigs regularly...does everyone have a color code when it comes to skirts and trailers.

Like what color skirts and plastic trailers compliment each other to look natural.

Oh geez sounds like a woman..."Do these heels go with this skirt"

Anyway what are some good colors that go together.

I have a green emerald beaver style bait I'd like to use as a trailer on a punch rig, I can't think of what color skirt to use.

Sounds like a woman again "I wanna go out, but I haven't a single thing to wear..."

Anyone care to tackle this question?

I am having this dilemma as we speak since I am in the middle of placing an order with Siebert but I can only get a few. There are waaaayyyy too many choices lol.

one of my buddies always says that if a bass can not find a brown crawdad, it will starve to death. with that said, and you are trying to look somewhat like a crawdad, skirts in a brown or green pumpkin hue work well. sometimes you need to look more like a bream or a shad. understanding what the current forage is at the time you are fishing will help you get in the ball park. colors are fine, but it more important to be fishing in front of a bass. i always put more emphasis on fishing at the right depth at the right speed.

Thanks!!  Here are some suggestions,

Falcon craw

Black Blue

Lochness

PBJ

Dark Green pumpkin

Those are some of my top sellers.

Magic Craw, blue craw, molting craw are all variations of each other that would go well with that color beaver bait.  I'm a HUGE fan of blue craw skirt color.

LMAO!!

I'm not sure how much it matters but I believe it can, or SHOULD, at times. So I color coordinate. Not with each other, or to the latest fashion, but to the given water's prey. Craws can by greenish, brownish, or blackish. I don't get too picky, unless I fish a certain water a LOT. Trailers I match to the jig skirt.

I also fish swim jigs a lot and I match em to either shad or bluegills and the trailer matches. If someone would make a trailer that sported the pale blue fluorescent tail tip that bluegills have I'd snap em up. But alas, no one has thought of that.

Barring prey-matching I tend to go dark (black) on dark days and white on bright days. If the water's really clear I use translucents with some reflective strands. Trailers, again, match.

I'm going to have an announcement on some new colors this weekend which will address that very color and several others.

I have a lot of different jigs, strike king, booyah, war eagle, etc. But having placed a couple of orders to Siebert in the last month, Mike makes the finest jigs I've ever seen. I think Siebert is my jig supplier from now on.

I hope it's soon. I'm excited to see what you come up with. I have to do some altercations to the skirts I buy for my football heads color wise by either adding more blue or more green pumpkin.
