a few weeks ago I came home from work and went fishing. Took the cover off the boat, loaded up some light gear and went down my canal. Found a spot, dropped the trolling motor... no power. Dammit! I just fixed everything! Looking, looking, ah ha.. one of my trolling batteries was stolen! That's weird, it was all undone nice and neat, and my boat cover was on when I left. What thieve boats up not knowing whos home, and takes their time to do all that. A week goes by, mother in law want to go for a ride, I go the other way, and who has a new to them pos boat hidden... guy next door, and hack landlord! A guy home all day who knows our schedule, and is a terrorist! Telling a friend down the street, she tells us their outboard was stolen from the back yard. All these people have no problems after years and all of the sudden! We made a police report about his harassment, but had no evidence to support our accusations, and of course right away his boat was gone "for maintenance" Since that day, Ive recorded all day everyday all of my property, and sure as #^$& today he tried again, but discovered locks, and the note I left about kicking the *^%*%(*^&$##& out of him next time.

I took this to the police right away. They came over and questioned him. The landlord wanna be told them we were moving soon and he wanted to be sure the landscaping was ok AFTER ALREADY BEING TOLD TO STAY OFF OUR PROPERTY. Really?!? $They didn't do anything. Nothing was taken this time because I had locks on it.

Bad news.

You can take a man's wife but don't screw around with his boat.

Wow, what a loser

I guess putting locks on saved your stuff but also saved him in a way because he was not caught on film taking stuff? That sucks

I would have kept film rolling, walked right up to dude and asked if I could help him with anything!

I wasn't home. I run that camera all day when we aren't home. He doesn't work, and knows our schedule. Its on a gopro, but I recorded the video on my phone to just get a small clip. That's why its so fuzzy too.

yea that's what I said to the cop.

The police should set up a sting. Leave some equipment in the boat as bait to catch this rat with GPS attached..in his boat and in the neiborhood area..

Let the rat fall into the trap. Open and shut case.

This guy should be locked up. I would not be surprised to learn that he is responsible for more burglaries in the area.

Well you handled the situation like a gentleman. I, however, think I would have handled it like a redneck. Nuff said

Personallly, I would have went down and taken out a trespassing warrant out on him. IDK about Florida, but you have enough evidence to go before a magistrate and obtain a warrrant for trespassing. 1. You told him not to come on the property. 2. You videoed him on the property. Landlord or not, you pay rent and are the controller of the property. Just because he is the landlord, he doesnt have the authority to come over unannounced. If it was the first time, as a former LEO, id see it as a gray area, but you expressly told him before to stay off of the property. (Or to knock or call ahead before coming over) i dont know what you told him... anyways but just that info alone is enough a NC magistrate to issue a warrant.

So you were standing there filming him, I am confused as to how the video zoomed in and out with you not being there.

Anyways I know in va a landlord has to give at least 24 hours notice before a visit unless there is an emergency which requires them to access the premises.

Wow. I would've handed him his a$$ if he had messed with my stuff. Several times over.

Hes already been warned to stay off. Had I not posted the sign there, Id probably have him. The cops were supposed to issue a trespass warrant, but I don't think they did. If I were at home, Id messed him up pretty bad. The camera runs all day, this video was a recording I made on my phone of the video on my computer moving in and out and making it fuzzy. He will get his once Im gone, but I live right next door and hes home all day and knows my schedule and don't want any more problems with our property. Were moving out, and my boat is at my neigbors who also has had issues with the guy. Pretty crappy.

He's filming the recording with his cell phone so he's using the zoom feature on the phone to get a close up image of what is being displayed on his tv or computer monitor.
