Fenwick Flipping Stick

looking into purchasing an extra heavy flipping stick .i am considering purchasing the

7ft 6 inc extra heavy fenwick hmg flipping stick.i have never owned a fenwick rod would

like some imput on this rod .any help would be appriciated.

Fenwicks are good rods.   I don't have a Fenwick flipping stick, but I have several different Fenwick rods and they are good rods.  I don't think you'll be disappointed with a Fenwick rod.

X3  Neither do I have that model, but In casting rods I have 2 Elite Tech Smallmouth, 2 Techna AV, and in spinning rods a RiverRunNer and older Elite Tech.  Plus a 45 year old (give or take a couple years) fiberglass spinning rod.  Fenwick may not be the hottest flavor of the month, but my personal opinion is they are an under-rated company.

I've got 2 flipping sticks. a new HMG and an older HMG/AV and couldn't be happier with either. Great rods for the money. Neither has ever broken, never even broke a tip and even accidently stepped on another HMG(non flipping stick) without any negative effects. Enough sensitivity and backbone to do what I need it to do. I have them both paired up with Ardent F500 and Samuari 55lb braid. The HMG/AV is the #1 rod in my arsenal and I use it strictly for jigs. I recently bought the new one for punch rigs, but have only been throwing jigs so far as the ice just melted. I have been slowly changing the entire arsenal over to Fenwick an now have 6 or 7 rods. 

 

EDIT The telescopic handles are nice it your rod locker isn't long enough

I don't own the flipping stick either but I do have the Elite Tech Swimbait rod and the Elite Tech Target Spinnerbait rod and both are great. No complaints!

I used to have it and it is a telescopic model but after you fish it for a bit it makes you forget it is a telescopic flipping stick. I sold mine when I got sick but it was a mistake, it has a long handle perfect for flipping which too many flipping sticks cut down trying to save weight. It isn't the lightest flipping stick but it isn't the heaviest either and it does have a slight tip heavieness but if you use a 8oz reel it isn't a problem but the best feature is you feel bites with it in heavy cover, and it is strong, good frog rod as well.

I have a fenwick rod that I use for spinnerbaits and one for worms.....I'm very happy with them

I have a 7 ft Fenwick Techna AV MH/F casting that is my plastics rod and wouldn't use another.

It's rated at 3/8 to 1 1/2 oz. and has a smaller diameter than my Allstar ASR jig or the Flacon Heavy I use for frog's and punching.

This is a great heavy technique rod and rod weight is somewhat light. The only downfall is when using a jig and you set the hook hard it rip holes in the side of the fish mouth and if you don't keep pressure on the fish or try to flip it in the boat you have a good chance of loosing it. At one time had about 10 techna av rods and want more.
