What Size Braid For My New Rod?

I just purchased a new 7'3" MH rod that I plan to use for frogs but may also use for pitching heavier cover and possibly for some swim baits. I'm contemplating whether I should use 50 or 65 lb braid. I definitely don't need a stronger line than 50 but I wonder if the manageability may be better with the 65 and the line won't dig as bad in my spool. On the other hand would 50 cast further and handle lighter baits better? What would you choose? I'll probably be using 3/8-3/4 oz jigs and 1/2 oz frogs and an occasional spinnerbait or swimbait.

Either one will work well for your application. I would say go with the cheaper or whichever one you have laying around.

50lb Power Pro has been working really well for me.  I use it for frogs, jigs and heavier t-rigs.  I might bump it up if I was fishing say in Florida punching mats all day though.

I used 50 lb Power Pro Braid with no issues for frogging and in flipping/pitching into heavy cover.  So 50 lb is fine and strong enough to handle those applications.

I've fished both 50 and 65. 

I like both just fine but 65 is going to stay on my reel this year. It won by a hair.

I'm running 40. I've got no spool issues. When I ran 30, on occasion, I would have it dig in a tad in a hook set, but nothing a simple cast couldn't take care of.

50, its a little easier to manage to me

I fished both 50 & 65 lb braid. I use 65 lb power pro on a 7'4 daiwa steez rod/ zillion reel and it casts pretty nice, but if you want to cast farther i would go 50 lb sunline braid!

+1. I was going to switch from 65 to 50. Then I realized the difference is minimal and didn't want to spend  more money on it, so I got 50 on some 65 on others.
