Debating About Trying Rage Toads..opinions?

So I've become somewhat of a topwater fanatic last two years..I used to use alot of zoom toads and some other toads too..but now I'm hooked on sexy frog,koppers and Spro frogs ..but lately I've been fishing the ragetail shad like crazy best topwater bait I've ever used..I swear the by far beat I've used..I'm a huge fan of ragetail plastics..by far my favorite..I've gotten away from the regular plastic frogs but been wanting to try out the rage toads since I never have used them..opinions? I'm trying to decide if I should..one of the few things in the rage lineup I've never used..

Give them a try! Like the rest. the Rage Tail lineup it's. great product. I was throwing one this weekend, and it makes a lot of commotion!

I found it works best with a keel weighted 5/0 hook. IMHO the weighted hook helps to keep it from turning over on its back during the retrieve.

Here's a link showing hooking procedures for the RAGE Toad or any toad for that matter, that makes it run upright as they should... weighted hooks are good for adding distance to you cast or in windy conditions. Hope you like'em

They are my second favorite toad style bait, behind the Gambler Cane Toad. The Rage Toads are great when the fish are aggressive because they cause lots of "disturbance" on the surface. They cast really good IMO and are fairly durable. About the only complaint I have with them is you have to fish them faster than I like in order to keep them on the surface. As I said though when the fish are on this style of bait and are chewing, these baits are very very good. In fact come to think of it these are the only two toad style baits I fish anymore. No need for anything else.

I would recommend getting a few and trying them.  Remember, the noise profile of the Rage baits is different than others.  On certain days, the louder noise profile may be too aggressive, so you might consider adding a couple of different styles to your arsenal.  The other thing to remember is bait profile.  Some soft plastic frogs have a larger profile than others and do not work as well in thick pads.  They will get hung up more than a slender profile like the Zoom Horny Toad or the Rage Shad.  Stock your frog box with a variety to give yourself the best opportunity to get 'em.

Yeah, that Toad can be worked as fast or slow as you want to. With a non-weighted 5/0 hook, the Toad sinks nice and slow, and when the legs are cut out like Big O just showed you there, it has a great flutter on the way down, and gets crushed in, on, and around any kind of vegetation. If you're really feeling froggy, go ahead and stick that modified Toad on a jig head, and get down in the middle of the pads, and hop it along. Looks exactly like what frogs really do, and it catches BIG, HUNGRY bass!

i think you should end your debate and go buy some. the rage toad is an excellent bait. many mention fishing them around cover and vegitation and stuff, but i also have killed with them on a clear open water pond. the rage toad catches fish no doubt...

Okay well I will pick some up..im a huge rage fan just been so hooked on shads lately and koppers frogs..was thinking about leaving soft plastic frogs behind this year..but as mentioned above i can get a slower more subtle appraoch., and i just love buying rage tail products its always great..by far the best soft plastics in my opinion..but ive never tried these frogs..

I would say black neon or green pumpkin. That way you will have both a light and dark belly to compliment each other.
