Megastink Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I usually wear cheap sunglasses fishing (under $20). But I also wear a gaiter to protect my face from sunburn. The issue is that if I wear my gaiter above my nose, my breath fogs my glasses. I have to wear my face mask below my nose, exposing it to sunlight. Are there sunglasses that won't fog, or a coating I can invest in??? Please help. Thanks! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 16, 2013 Super User Posted April 16, 2013 Not much you can do when the gaiter is basically directing your breath straight up to your lenses. The only thing that combat fogging is air flow. No coating I have ever seen/used is of any help. Quote
Tartan34 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Glasses won't help....even my Costa's fog up at times. To lessen/remove the fog, I just wear the glasses a little further from my face. When there is a gap (even a small one) between the frame and my eyebrow = no fog. 2 Quote
5fishlimit Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 My good friend is a firefighter, and suggested this product to me after complaining about my eyeglasses fogging up. http://www.defogitworks.com/ It really does work. Quote
BuckMaxx Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Rain X or any of those windshield products will help Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 16, 2013 Super User Posted April 16, 2013 Rain X or any of those windshield products will help Be careful with some products as they may damage any kind of coatingon a plastic lens. Glass lens it probably won't be as much of a concern but if you are wearing $20 sunglasses then i doubt they are glass. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted April 16, 2013 Super User Posted April 16, 2013 The only sunglasses that won't fog up are the ones you leave in their case. I have not tried any kind of treatment on my Costas. Too much cash to risk. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted April 16, 2013 Super User Posted April 16, 2013 Pull the glasses off your face so they're not so jammed into your eye sockets. That will allow breathing room. Probably the best remedy for the problem. Con of that is keeping them in that spot and it allows light/glare from peripheral. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 16, 2013 Super User Posted April 16, 2013 I also wear a baseball hat when fishing and it helps, for me at least, to put the straight temple/ear piece up on my hat. It tilts the glasses a little forward and creates more of an opening at the top. Seems to help me out. Quote
TylerVC Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 WileyX makes some sunglasses with a removable facial cavity seal and I think it would help reduce fogging. I tried a few pairs on at the classic and really liked them. I will probablly buy a pair when I have the funds. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 17, 2013 Super User Posted April 17, 2013 Eyeglass cleaners with a defogging agent should help, most drugstores carry it. Quote

moguy1973 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Cat crap. Look on amazon for it I used to use this stuff when I wore glasses and was running. It's pretty awesome stuff...Definitely does the job. It's kind of expensive on Amazon. Better prices on Campmor.com Quote
RoachDad Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 stupid question - what is a gaiter? dont you just wear sunscreen? Quote
BrettD Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 stupid question - what is a gaiter? dont you just wear sunscreen? Its the same as a sun buff. I wear one because I hate wearing sunscreen, they keep you cooler and thye more effective in blocking sunlight then sunscreen. Quote

RoachDad Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Wow! I cannot imagine wearing that all day. I'll just stick to sunscreen. It would be nice in the winter though. I learn something every day! This is the one I wear http://www.simmsfishing.com/sunarmor.html Quote
