Not jumping to any pre mature conclusions on who the culprit(s) are and why this day and venue was selected. Just some food for thought, this is Patriot day in Boston and income tax day. Clint Van Zandt suggested the bomb material may have been of non military grade (white smoke) but the detonating system was sophisticated.  My prayers are out for all the victims and their families, luckily there were first responders on the scene.

Absolutely terrible. Thoughts and prayers to the 8 year old kid's parents and family as well as all the other victims/families. Some of the photos make Kevin Ware's injury look like a hangnail... hopefully the kid in custody makes it easy for them to quickly connect the dots. I'll never understand the mindset of attacking the innocent.

We must of saw the same photo...

In case anyone hasn't seen the actual footage of initial and secondary blasts

I'll be in Boston tomorrow, not looking forward to it,

It's very premature at this point, but I would be willing to bet that this is another case of domestic terrorism; another nut-case out to kill and maim innocents.

The other devices were rumors right? It's sad that a person would do this to innocent people. I wouldn't call the person who did this a man or women because they don't deserve that respect.

Officially, right now, yes. I don't believe the investigators ever meant to have that released, and that's why it was later recanted. Just like the suspect that was a suspect, then wasn't and the last I checked was again. As the facts that will be released come I think that the other devices will be confirmed. My daughter's roommate was evacuated twice, first time because the store she worked at was part of the crime scene, second because anot her device was found outside the building she was evacuated to. Investigators IMO never want all the facts released until after those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted, and sometimes not even then.

Like LongMike has already posted I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be "homegrown" terrorist.

I agree.  This smells like Oklahoma City.

Homegrown or not, no amount of preparation will ever have us prepared for acts of terrorism. No amount of technology can protect us from this primitive warfare..Under no circumstances should we give up our constitutional rights for a false sense of security.

Benjamin Franklin said (paraphrasing) "Those who would trade their personal liberties for 'security' deserve neither".

Boston, and now the poison being mailed to leaders really has me thinking. There is allot of social tension in our country. I'm sure most ppl here are aware of Thomas Jefferson's famous "Tree of Liberty". I see references to it often, the bonds that hold us together as a country are strained, I hope and pray that the events are not connected, but at the end of the day I won't be surprised if they are.

I will be interested to see why and if he is affiliated with any groups.  My guess is he isn't anything other than some psycopath who had a grudge against society.

The only person arrested is a man from Mississippi sending letters with ricin powder.  No one has been arrested in connection to the bombings, there was a student questioned and had his home searched, to my knowledge he is not in custody or a suspect.

They are Kyrigistani.  Been here since ~2003, well to do family, older brother was posting videos to Al Qaida websites.  Younger one was a great athlete in high school (Rindge and Latin).
