Has anyone used this? It's the rod KVD is using in his spinnerbait video and also reccomends. I never used quantum rods so I can;t tell how the quality matches up vs St.Croix etc...

Spinnerbaiting is a big part of my fishing style so I want to get a rod dedicated to it soon.

I'm not 100% sure which one you're referring to, but I have the older Tour Edition PT Signature series KVD spinnerbait rod and its a great rod. Can also be used for T-rigged plastics.

I actually dont really know which rod im referring to either but I was looking for the rod KVD mentioned in his advanced spinnerbait dvd that he designed for quantum

From my personal experience, I'd put a lot of rods above Quantum rods. I have not used the specific rod you're referring to, so use your own judgement. but my money would be going elsewhere.

All I know is that he had/has 2 specific rods. The one that came out about 10 yrs ago which is the Quantum Tour Edition PT Signature series KVD spinnerbait rod. It is 6'10" MH. It has a Lifetime warranty and retailed for $199. Thats the rod I have. I've been using it for 5 yrs and has been a great rod. Light, and sensitive. The other is the newer, "red" rods that he came out with a few years ago. I have no clue about those. I know that the one I have, and I also have about 12 more of the TE PT rods, and they are excellent rods. I wouldnt hesitate to buy more. NEVER any problems or breaks or anything wrong with them.

I have and use the older and the newer versions of both rods.

I completely disagree with the Quantum nae-sayers.

Both rods are excellent for what they are designed to do.

I do prefer the older version (not the red).

Spent a week throwing spinnerbaits in Mexico this past March - that particular rod handled this fish just fine.

A-Jay,

That fish looks stunted :)   I purchased a couple Energy PT rods from Simmons Sporting Goods last year and I actually really like them a lot.  Probably the best $50.00 purchase I've ever made on bass fishing gear.
