Some of you may know when it comes to mono, I'm a die hard Spider Wire fan. Near zero stretch, 6# test is more like 10#, barely any memory. Well today with 12#, numerous casts broke causing me to lose 50ft +/- of line per cast and a few good lures. I check the line periodically for nicks and fray, as well as this being a brand new spool. Anyhow...

I stopped to pick up some more line grabbed another spool of the Spider this time Ultimate not EZ, and a spool of Sufix Siege 14#. I tried Siege once before that came on a reel I bought used and didn't like it, immediately replaced it after a couple casts. Any how giving it a second chance brand new out the box.

I am so ticked at the bad spool of Spider and the $25 in lost lures, that if all goes well with the Siege I may convert to the darkside for my spinnerbait line.

*note: I typically use 6# Spider for everything and have never had a problem EVER in the past decade of using it.

Feel free to throw in your stories of Sufix.

Pulled out tree branch from the shore using 17# Seige with a spinnerbait. Heck, I've bent out plenty of hooks using the stuff. My favorite color is the camo seige. Its like a black with all kinds of colors mixed in, I really like it.

For the money, there is no better spinnerbait line if you prefer mono for the technique.

Also, if you end up liking seige, try elite for some of your smaller more finesse type approaches.

Don't really have any stories. I think for the price you cant beat it. Nice smooth line that lays on a reel nice. I had some 10lb on a small spinning reel for awhile. I actually thought it was 8lb because it handled so well. Went to grab the box to re-spool and it was actually 10 lol.

I switched to sufix from stren and am not looking back. I used stren megathin and liked it, got a spool of original for my sons gear and had all kinds of twist etc. The megathin is hard to find so i picked up a spool of seige and elite. the smoke green in 10# siege is my color. Less stretch then the stren and stronger too. Handles on the reel very well, even in cooler weather.I like the elite too, it seems more brittle but very flexible and cast able. Been using it about 6 months and no issues. I will keep buying it.

Yea I wanted the black one but my local shop didn't have it only the green one. I caught a 2# LMB today, handled real nice. I actually ran to the store re spooled then right back to the lake. Lol I had issues with tangle with Stren on a saltwater setup, casted nice but not worth the hassle. I opted for siege over elite for the abrasion resistence. And yes this will be dedicated for spinnerbaits. Thanks for responses fellas!

@grantman83 holy ish! Glad I use seaguar fluoro! I wrote spider on their site last night and complained. They responded they're sending me some new line and lures. Gonna send them in a sample portion as well. I like spider a lot I would rather stand behind a company and help them rather than abandon ship. Hope they fix any problems that exist. In the meantime still going to give Sufix its fair shot.

So I got the replacement spool in today and some cheap trout grub/lures. Def not comparable in price to the Strike King Spinnerbaits I lost. Better than nothing tho, most companies wouldn't even replace the bad product. However I am loving the siege for the time being.
