OneShotOneKill Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Has anyone used these yet? They seem kinda pricey, i don't know if they cost more because of the material or scent? Quote
Bass Junkie Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 They cost more because 1. They're Megabass, and they produce a very high quality bait. This means they come with a higher price tag than say, Zoom. 2. They're a Japanese Domestic Market bait, and the cost of importing them and still maintaining a decent profit margin is higher than other baits. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 16, 2013 Super User Posted April 16, 2013 That is one "bass-azzed" looking lure! Just picked up a couple of packs of the 4.5" Yum "Mighty Bugs". That's one heck of piece of plastic as well! Should get their juices flowing in the next few weeks with these. And they only cost me $1.50/pack at WalMarts. I think I'll pass on the Megabass plastics though. Way too expensive for my wallet. 1 Quote
Bass Junkie Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 It is a little stiff for a soft plastic, but then again, it is a Megabass, and it is imported from Japan, and I'm willing to bet TW doesn't get the same wholesale price as their JDM counterparts. Plus, look at the price of a lot of the popular hollowbelly swimbaits out there. Many exceed that price per bait, but because they are Hollowbellys, and the originals, along with many of the similar products, command a high price, it seems normal to pay that much for them. Even the Berkley Havoc Sick Fish 4" model, a "budget" model, costs as much per bait as these Megabass plastics. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted April 17, 2013 Super User Posted April 17, 2013 Haven't spent a ton of time with them, but thus far I am impressed. They have a very natural glide on the fall and they move a ton of water. I won't yet call them a staple, but the prospect is good. Quote

Don't buy the Megabass baits, wait for Luck E Strike to come out with an inexpensive imitation. 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 26, 2013 Super User Posted April 26, 2013 Received a package of them yesterday. The baits have a great scent to them. Also the "shell" or ribbed body section, is extremely dense. I am guessing it is even denser than a Gary Yamamoto plastic. The craw legs are thinner in diameter and remind me a bit of the rage craws. They kick up a lot of water due to mini paddles for lack of a better word to give it a nice kicking action as it moves. I am also going to try to use one weightless, as I would bet the bait probably weighs around 1/4 oz +/- by itself. The quality seems to be what would expect from a bait with a price tag as such. Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 27, 2013 Super User Posted April 27, 2013 Looks like a Fat Ika mated with a Space Monkey. I would say that would be a pretty fair summation of the bait. Quote
