I'm surprised no one has started a Masters thread, guess I'll have to do it.

Looks like it's going to be a good last day, plenty of folks in contention.  Can Angel Cabrera win a 2nd Green Jacket?   I think Tiger won't be able to do it, 4 strokes back and he really hasn't played well since that miscue at 15 on Friday.  But he is capable of an amazing round, but it's tough to make up 4 strokes and jump over a group of players that are ahead of him.

Sent PM because this is a family site and Glenn gets mad when we tell dirty jokes.

I'm putting my $$ on Snedeker.  Had Tiger Woods not caromed off the flagstick he would be at or near the lead, so I think he is playing well.  Well enough to overcome 4 strokes I'm not sure, but if gets off to 2 birdies in the first few holes, he could do it then.  If the field sees him only 2 out, they just might get a bit nervous.

I hope tiger explodes into major fail. I've lost a great deal of respect for the master's after tiger was given his free pass for the rules violation. Anyone but tiger is good for me.

Tiger gave it all up when he didn't call that penalty on himself.  It will always be in the back of his mind and will influence his future round(s).  I look for a big number for him today.  If he shoots a low score it just proves that he has no conscience.

I know it is a long shot, but I would love to see Freddy Couples finally put a good final round together and win it.  He's been so close many times recently but blows up late in the tournament.

Yeah I'd like to see Couples win it, but seems like a longshot.  I'm just hoping that no one runs away with it and it comes down to the last hole with several guys in contention.  I forget how they handle a playoff at Augusta.

Two incidents come to mind.  Dustin Johnson inadvertently did not call a penalty on himself when he grounded his club in what he thought was a waste bunker.  He turned in an incorrect scorecard.  Disqualified.  I believe that was at the U.S. Open.

Several years ago at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course.  Tiger's ball comes to rest behind a boulder.  Several men come to Tiger's rescue and move the "loose impediment" out of the way, giving him a clear shot to advance the ball toward the green.  Heck, if that's the case anything that is not "embedded" should be moveable, even if it takes a backhoe to do it.

Now Tiger gets another helping hand from the officials.

Meanwhile they assess the 14 year old from China a stroke penalty for slow play.  When was the last time they levied one on a PGA pro?  I couldn't find one in a google search.

I hope Tiger wins it. He is one of the best if not the best. He made mistakes just like everyone else has. He messed up by not penalizing himself. I think its ridiculous that a fan called it in and created all the stir. Ive never heard of such garbage. Big deal. I've stuck with him through his whole career. His sponsers left and he still dominates.

It was a fan that called it in on Dustin Johnson.  It happens more than most folks realize.

"The Tournament of Champions lost another star player Friday when Camilo Villegas was disqualified for a rules violation that a television viewer called in after the opening round at Kapalua.

"Juli Inkster also was disqualified for swinging a weighted club during a long wait on the tee. That infraction was called in by a viewer."

"Television viewers have been calling in rules violations for years, leaving golf officials little choice. Every time a viewer calls in a possible violation that leads to disqualification, there are protests of inequity that only the top players get the most TV times."

Well I'll be danged. I never heard of such. I don't know what to say. I wonder if I can call in on football games and soccer matches? Still seems ridiculous to me that fans are policing golf tournaments. However I did learn something new today.

I am in the anti-tiger boat as well. I could care les about him but when rules are bent and broken for a player it is just plain wrong, much like jordan used to get in the nba.

Ad tiger hasn't dominated since his tail spin and I doubt he ever will like he did early in his career.

As I type this they're in the middle of the playoff.

Count me in as another anti-Tiger. But I'll bet that scads of people are breathing easier now that he lost by more than the two-shot penalty.

Shouldn't even have mattered because he should have been watching from his couch.....the whole rules committee has some serious work to do if after they review the play twice they are alerted of an infraction by a fan.

The Tiger controversy notwithstanding, it was one whale of a finish.  When Scott birdied the 18th, it looked like he would win.  Then Cabrera put his second shot stiff to the flag leaving an "easy" birdie putt.

The playoff was outstanding, well worth the price of admission.

Tigers gonna make a come back. Say what you want the man is good. It may take some time, but he will be back to being the old Tiger.

Yet his Nike ad, "winning takes care of everything." Didn't prove true this go around. However it is very true.

Woods was allowed to stay in the tournament due to a rule change two years ago that states a player, instead of being disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard, can be assessed penalty strokes afterward because all the facts concerning the issue were not known when the scorecard was signed.
