BriBass Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 How do you guys like to rig your hudd? I see alot of people rigging the hudd differently and changing it... like this seems very popular and look much better... Have any of you done this before? For those of you who have.. Does the top of the hudd get torn up to much when u stick the shank of the hook in the hud and then land a couple fish? If you havent seems interesting huh? http://www.sfadams.com/2010/03/18/butch-brown-how-to-rig-a-huddleston-swimbait/ BB Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 Butch Brown has that down pat..he seems to have a great hook up ratio. I see no need to rig any other way. The hooks pop out, and the bait is seperasted from the fish, so it can't use the baits leverage to throw it..and it doesn't seem to get torn up, any more than any other swimbait. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 90% of the time I fish an ROF12 with the stock jig hook and no stinger. Quote
gobig Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 90% of the time I fish an ROF12 with the stock jig hook and no stinger. Same here. Caught a lot of fish on the stock hook and have not lost that many. I have not seen enough need to change it. In my experience most of the time the bait is so deep there is not much leverage anyway. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 No stinger/trap hook here too. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 Jig hook only for me on the 12, don't have a 16. 5's are a different story though Quote
BriBass Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 interesting... i got my 6' hudd at a ROF 5... You guys think the stock hook is fine? I wanna try it in this weekends tourney, so i dont have much time to "practice" with it I got the supplies to do the Butch Brown way but it looks like most of you so far have had no problem with the way it is.. thanks for any feedback Quote
chris fenk Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 the 6 inch hudd DOESNT need a stinger hook or a trap. fish swallow it. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted May 13, 2010 Super User Posted May 13, 2010 i rig all my Hudds (only use the 8" ) very similar , in that i don't use wire between my trap hook ( size 1, Owner ST-41 ) and the hudd eyelet . i use a Berkley cross-loc snap (size 3) , a lot easier to change hooks out , sometimes i go down to a size 2 hook when im throwing it deep down among rocks but use the bigger size 1 for deep open water . by the way , i mostly use the ROF16's .......
