Doubled Over Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Spring Gobbler season just started here in Virginia today so I decided go to the club that I belong to for my first turkey hunt. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to bag a bird. But I was able to talk to one for about 30 minutes before a random dog came on our property and started barking and shut the bird up. Man, hearing that gobble on my first turkey hunt and actually keeping him gobbling really gets your heart pumping! Maybe i'll getem next time i'm out . Quote
nocluefisher Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 That is the most exciting part of the turkey hunt for me, calling, then they call back. My heart beats a mile a minute when that happens. Bagging the bird is just icing on the cake after that. Quote
jhoffman Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 remember also, while its awesome to hear them gobble in nature the hens go to the gobbler so if you keep calln and he keeps firing off youre just hanging him up. if he responds one single time he knows where you are. Quote
A-Rob Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 thats cool man! The suspense will give you something to look forward to next time your out! Quote

This! Good luck the rest of the season hope ya tag one! Quote
jhoffman Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 The other bad thing about making him gobble with the hens going to the gobbler is that there are sooooo many hens cause not too many people hunt them in fall that the hens will fly down and RUN to him. Quote
