TNBassin' Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Most of us use a trailer with these baits, and I was wondering if any of you trim the skirt back a little to help with trailer action? Quote
gripnrip Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I trim the skirt basically like I do on my jigs. I trim just below the hook bend. I thin my skirts if my bait is bulky or I want a smaller profile. Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Yup. trim the skirt the same way I trim my jig and spinnerbait skirts. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 14, 2013 Super User Posted April 14, 2013 Never had a problem with them right out of the package. But if it enhances your confidence, go for it. 1 Quote
A-Rob Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I normally do but just enough to let the trailer flow...not shorter than the length of the hook. Maybe on average I take about 1/4" off of it Quote
JDUB Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I dont trim mine, I just throw a keitech on the back and call it good lol. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 14, 2013 Global Moderator Posted April 14, 2013 I like to leave mine a little longer to give it more bulk and I like the flow of the skirt during the retrieve. Quote
PondBoss Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 never trim them, they help hide the trailer hook Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 I replace the skirt with one that is longer and has some even longer strands.-built-in trailer. Quote
5fishlimit Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Trim the skirt, no. Sharpen the hook, yes. Quote
