I find it funny how the walleye guys and the saltwater guys can't get enough Gulp! and the bass guys almost universally hate the stuff.  It is absolutely my go-to bait when walleye fishing, but I don't use it for bass because I hate how it dries up so quick when you don't have it in the water for two minutes.

I would vote for anything Yamamoto as being overrated.  They are so fragile that I typically get 1-2 fish per bait..........thats why after about 2 bags I started buying other brands of the same shape baits.

Those things called "senko" ;D

I agree with the 1-2 fish part, but I kill 'em on Senkos. I switched to the Yum Dinger per someone's information on this forum. They seem to last MUCH longer. I would recommend them to anyone.

In addition, I did however just order some senko-like plastics from El_Grande on this forum. Check out his post: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1273439276/0#1 and get 20% off a purchase. I ordered some and can't wait to get them!

I bought some and dont get me wrong, they were nice, but I actually caught more fish on my Bandit cranks, just gotta change out the hooks and save $10 per crank. ;D

I agree, the only Lucky Craft worth the price may be the Pointers.

just goes to show.

the pointers, the bds 2, flat mini dr and the cb-350 are my money baits...like the shadrap #5, they just seem to produce when all else fails.

will agree on the gulp thing, tho.

I defenitly think senkos are overrated. They are great baits, but some people seem to think they are the best bait ever. When I first started bass fishing, I used them a lot. Once I learned other techniques, I stopped using them so much. I feel like in most situations I can catch more fish and cover the water quicker with other lures. There are situations where senkos are the best thing to throw, but I rarely run into those situations. This is just me though, I know a lot of people swear by senkos.

LOL! Haven't caught a thing with any of their products either, for catfish or bass.

And as far as people complaining about Senkos, how do you figure? Someone said they get 2 fish per worm. So 20+ fish per pack of worms and yet they are overrated? Overrated would be something that everyone buys yet doesn't catch the fish or doesn't do as well as advertised. I fail to see how someone proving the product works could make it overrated. ::)

Most lure & bait manufacturers put a lot time, research and effort in what offer for sale. They have to. It's probably the most competitive business market there is! I don't believe any lure is over rated. I believe a lot are under rated though. Mainly because of the "fad" stages each has to go through.

Lures are just tools to achieve your primary goal of depth & speed control. A person not liking a Dancin' Eel or another totally loving a Senko, are emotions, not thoughtful use of such as the simple tools they are. Remember, anything will catch a bass.  :)

This entire thread has been amusing.

This is one thing that fishermen are never going to agree on. I don't know what it is. One man's trash, another man's treasure I guess.
