did you tie braid straight to the spool?

if so you will need some mono backer then a joining knot like the uni to uni or alberto.

Is the spool spinning when you pull out the drag ormismit just the line moving? If it is just the line then it is the braid slipping and you will need to add a little backing andmyournproblems will go away.

if you know how to take the reel appart and clean/ inspect I would start there. sometimes just by taking it appart and puting it back together it fixes the issue. otherwise you might be able to see the problem area. you should only need to take the top assembly appart leave the gearing alone. hope this helps...

Is your anti-reverse switch off?  The bail would be spinning and not the spool if this was the case.

It's just the spool is very loose and when I tighten the drag it doesn't make the spool or line tighter

What kind of reel and when was the last time you used it? I'm asking because it sounds like a drag washer is either missing or bad and the reel brand lets us know what type of drag washers as some brands use felt washers that sometimes get compressed to the point of no applying pressure anymore. I have another question, how did you manage to get line on the reel with a loose drag? if the drag was loose then I would take the line right back off because it isn't going to lay right on the spool and your casting will be messed up, you'll be fighting with tangles instead of fishing.

Jeez. Sounds like my nightmare post of my Revo S baitcaster from just a few days ago. And I'm an Abu guy. Who the heck knows? My problem defied all logical solutions.
