Well after having minor success with jigs this winter i have decided to go full out and give them the attention they deserve.  I placed my order with Seibert and am looking forward to getting my 8 jigs in 4 colors and all the same 1/2 oz size and all with the grass head with one of each color being a rattle and one the standard wire tie.

Anyways, just thought i would share :)

Good Luck ~

Having made the commitment myself a while back, I'm betting that you won't regret it.

I am doing the same thing this year.  I have no confidence in them but am keeping one tied on at all times. So far I have been out 2 times with no luck but I am not giving up.

Good luck to you!!

I just printed off that order a second ago.  Thank you for the order!!

The colors you ordered are my most popular and some of my favorites!!

If you have any questions at all please ask.  Once the jig becomes part of your arsenal you wont be looking back.

You won't regret it! I did the same thing about 7 years ago and each year I throw them more and more. In return the number of big fish I catch each year keeps growing more and more. The past 3 years my PB has gotten bigger as well, and you guessed it, each one has come on a jig.  Enjoy the ride man!

Definitely looking forward to it.  The lakes i fish have a ton of grass and lilly pads usually so i figure i will learn to fish shallow first and then work my way deeper.

I do have to say the main reason i am giving these a good try is because of all the posts on this site around jigs, it also doesn't hurt that my biggest bass of the year caught on New Years day was caught on one too :)

I did the same as well a few years ago when I started using my first baitcaster.  Really really like the jig. You wont regret it.  Stay positive and confident.

I find myself sitting here, as the sleet and ice fall (again!) in New England, staring droolingly at the Plano box of Siebert jigs that I can't wait to try.

But, I have to wait to try them.  :-/

Those Sieberg jigs are excellent.

What you have to do is make sure you select the right rod, reel and line that you are comfortable.

I like a 7-foot heavy on a 7:1 baitcaster with 20 pound Big Game line.

The lighter the rod the better but you still need the power to set the hook and pull them out of the weeds, grass, pads, wood, etc. So you have to balance the rod's weight and power so you don't exhaust yourself pitching and flipping that jig all day.

And don't jus throw the jig out and fish it like a plastic worm, Throw it in places that hold fish and don't be afraid to get it hung up. Jiggle it up and down. Slow roll it. Raise it up and let it fall. Try to find openings in the weeds, pads and grass and toss it into those open areas. Learn to "swim" a jig. Bounce it to you then drag it then bounce it making sure you leave it sit for five or ten seconds between movements.

And watch your line.  Keep a finger on the line coming off the baitcaster. Sometimes they pick it up and walk away with your jig and other times they slam it.

If you keep the rod tip low to the water you will improve your hook set ratio. I am sure there is a physics formula for this but it works so who cares?

As for your jigs, you can use fast or slow claws or a one or two tail grub.

And when you rig up your pig be sure to take a plastic worm the same color of your pig or darker, cut off a section and rig it onto your jig's hook first and then add the pig. This will keep the pig from balling up.

Have a good time learning and be ready to lose them at your feet or the boat. For some reason it happens with jig fishing.

Thanks for the advice.  I currently plan on throwing them on a 7'mhf mojo bass that i feel is actually a little heavier than the rating mated up with a 6.5:1 citica and 50lb braid that doubles as my frog rod.  Now if i fall in love with jig fishing, i may just have to get a more specific set up :)

So here is my order

Black and blue with blue flake head

Okechobee with dark green pumpkin head

Bluegill with watermelon head

Falcon Craw with copperhead head

All are 1/2 oz, grass head and i got one each rattle and one no rattle.

I am still amazed at the prices too...8 custom jigs to my door for under $30....can't beat that.

I actually had those in the running too but i figured 8 was enough for now.....I also did an order with stankxbaitco for their hero craw and sidekick trailers too so within a week or so i should be set :)

Now ya got me all fired. I just ordered 8 jigs a couple of weeks ago, and I think I'm gonna order another 10, and some Cosmic Craws. I really fell on love with that brush jig. It fits my lake like a glove. Lots of laydowns, brushpiles, and stumps.

Mike, here I come....lol,

I also have been using jigs this spring. Best time to learn on them I feels as the fish will bite anything so you get confidence and learn what the bite feels like. I have started with 1/4 oz jigs in shallower water. The lighter jig is ALOT easier to learn on IME.

Well went out today and while I didn't have my jigs I ordered I did catch about 8 on a swim jig with. 3.5" money minnow as a trailer, no size though. I guess that still counts, right :)

Good deal. Size doesnt matter too much with new techniques..its a good way to learn the technique and hook set that works for you with that technique.

I looooooove swimming a jig, i call it the stealth spinner bait.

What colors worked for you today and where were you fishin?

I think my next try will be a swim jig. I haven't had hardly any luck and I"m not sure if it's color selection, fishing from shore or what.

BTW, I've seen a white jig in the store. What would this be good for?

Imitating shad i would guess.

Ive had more luck with natural colors that match up well with pan fish as far as swimming a jig. The cool thing is that these color combos are good crawfish imitators too. Green pumpkin with orange, pb&j, okeechobee craw..ect..dark brown with light brown and orange... all good things to swim a jig with.

pff, i have zero confidence in jigs. every one ive cast, ive lost to a snag. it maybe because im shore bound and almost all the lakes or canals i fish have very steep, rocky drop offs or im just not meant to fish them, but i have had that technique on the back burner for the longest. i really would love to catch a fish on one but the money ive spend on them just to get snagged doesnt sit well with me.

Not sure what types of trailers you like, BUT if you like Rage craws, the Falcon lake craw looks PERFECT matched with the Falcon craw jig.

Okeechobee, Falcon, black & blue and when he comes out with Bama Craw ( hopefully he does) those will be the only 4 colors I will ever need!!
