So I have a birthday coming up and I'm looking to get a new baitcaster.  I normally use a spinning rod setup but I'd like to get a nice light action baitcasting rod and reel setup that I can begin to play with.  Open to any suggestions or tips.

Depends on your price range, but a Citica would be a great starting point.

If you are just getting into baitcasters the abu black max is a good reel, also the BPS pro qualifier is a good reel especially when it is on sale like right now.

Do you want a right hand or left hand reel?  There is a left hand Curado that looks to be in very good shape with brand new never used 80 lb. PP and reel grips for $70 on another forum.  Buy it before I do..................please.  :teeth3:

I think there are a couple STX at $110 on that forum as well.  Two Gen 2 Premiers $150, brand new Lews Tournament Spool $115, etc.  Decide what floats your boat, and start haunting the 'For Sale' forums.  This is one of the best ways to get great gear at reasonable prices.  I've gotten reels that looked brand new for way below retail.

Daiwa Lexa ... I'm super impressed with the smoothness and casting ability of mine. This from a Shimano fan, now also a Daiwa fan....
