Super User rippin-lips Posted April 11, 2013 Super User Posted April 11, 2013 The extended cast 1st episode is up for free for anyone interested. Quote
TNBassin' Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Me and the wife just watched the extended version, and I just have to get a season pass. The amount of extra info and tips in the extended version are well worth the money to me, and I just flat out love the MLF format. Quote
moguy1973 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 The first episode was pretty good. It's amazing the places where they get their boats back into and try to fish. I think they need to find lakes that have a little more obscure names than the last two seasons. Chautauqua and Istokpogo are too common. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 11, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 11, 2013 Haha for sure. Quote

Jay Ell Gee Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I am speaking for A-Jay when I say this: I hope we get to see another series of strong dock fishing patterns! 2 Quote
SudburyBasser Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I am speaking for A-Jay when I say this: I hope we get to see another series of strong dock fishing patterns! We probably traded dock fishing for fishing heavy vegetation. An improvement? Who knows, but I will be ordering the season pass again. 1 Quote
ChrisAW Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 We probably traded dock fishing for fishing heavy vegetation. An improvement? Who knows, but I will be ordering the season pass again. Both play a role in my local lakes, so both are great. I still watch the last set as well as will be ordering this one. Quote
prjavelin Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 i love mlf. I started watching in the 2nd cup and I bought all the others. Better yet this time around we can watch it after midnight vs last cup where we had to wait a couple days. i will keep buying no matter what but I would love more texas lakes as those resemble my local lakes a lot. IowaHusker28 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 So far I've watched every episode! I love the watching extended cast, and seem them go through their thought processes and how the format in general puts them under pressure the entire day. Quote
brady01 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Is it just me or does watching ish Monroe get super annoying. I can't stand to watch him fish. 2 Quote
gripnrip Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Is it just me or does watching ish Monroe get super annoying. I can't stand to watch him fish. I would rather watch him than Ike. I have to say this tho. No matter how much I dislike Ike's outbursts he is an excellent angler and I will force myself to pay attention base on that I just might learn something. Ish talks a bunch of smack but he is an excellent fisherman as well. Quote
TNBassin' Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Is it just me or does watching ish Monroe get super annoying. I can't stand to watch him fish. I like him. Yeah he gets a little "hip hop" sometimes, but he seems like a good dude and he always looks like he's having fun. When he's not tossing his rod and reel in the lake that is lol. My least favorite guys on MLF have to be Edwin Evers and Dean Rojas. They just seem like jerks. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 12, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 12, 2013 Ish is my favorite. He's seems super down to earth. I'd love just to hang out with him for a few hours. Not even talk about fishing. Quote
KY Outdoorsman Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I agree, ish is a passionate fisherman imo. I was pulling for the rookie tonight i think his name was randy howell? He didnt do bad. Denny Brauer had a rough trip which shocked me but his specialty is dock fishing. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted April 12, 2013 Super User Posted April 12, 2013 I only recently started watching fishing shows on TV and I'm new to the whole pros/tournaments thing but from what I've seen I like Ish Monroe. But is it just me or do the other guys seem like they talk a lot of crap about him. I'm pretty sure I heard a couple of snippety little comments made but I suppose it could be all in good fun and competitive sportsmanship. Quote
IowaHusker28 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I was just wondering if anyone knew why Brent Ehrler doesn't compete in the Elite series? I mean I know he is killing the FLW and has made 2 million in earnings, you would think someone who wants to be the best would compete with the best; But hey I guess thats why people say don't fix something that isn't broken. It would be very very hard to walk away from that kind of money from fishing. Quote
TNBassin' Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 My favorite pro has to be Greg Hackney. That dude can fish, and is just a flat out blast to listen to. I'd love to fish with that guy. Just a cool dude. The MLF format really let's these guys personalities shine through. For guys like Ish, Hackney, Grigsby and other guys that just have fun out there it's great. For guys like Edwin Evers or Dean Rojas, it's not as great since their personalities kinda suck. Quote

It would be very very hard to walk away from that kind of money from fishing. It could be many things. KVD no longer fishes FLW to my knowledge. They both may just be comfortable in their respective organizations. With Brent winning the first MLF, if I'm not mistaken, it was a field of more Bassmaster guys than FLW. SOOOOO in that theory alone I would say he doesn't need to. Not to mention they may have back door deal with the trails. Oh and another thing in the past it seemed both trails were making it difficult to fish both of them. I kind of rambled there on you. Sorry. Quote
IntroC Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I heard once if you want to make money fish FLW and if you want to be famous fish BASS. It seems about right since FLW has $125,000 payouts for first, BASS $100,000. More money could be the reason Ehrlers sticking with FLW. And really who is claiming that the BASS guys are the best besides THIER announcers. I'd put Ehrler, Martens, and Dudley amoung others against anyone fishing BASS. Also that Jacob Wheeler kid is gonna be a force to be reckoned with. Quote

IowaHusker28 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Martens fishes the Elites, but no doubt Ehrler is one heck of a fisherman and winning the first MLF says something. Imo I would think that the overall competition in BASS is better than FLW but that is just my thoughts, not taking anything away from FLW because anyone of them could out fish me anyday. Also in the thought of fishing both I was thinking more choose one or the other and then fish MLF. Quote

Met Edwin Evers at basspro here in Memphis, he's far from being a jerk. Pretty nice guy and gave ya some good tips. He does seem like that though especially after last season MLF when he got ticked at the camera man, but I believe that was jus the competitive spirit. Quote
