Any free time is fishing. i don't saltwater fish nearly as much as i used to. i used to be on the beach 4-5 nights a week. and i would bass fish a few times a week in during the down time with saltwater. ever since i got into the bass scene seriously i fish on average 6 nights a week and saltwater fish maybe once a week when the bite is good. it's funny i live on long island where some of the best saltwater fishing occurs and i choose largemouth over striped bass, bluefish, fluke, flounder, tuna shark, etc. lol

I've thought about trying turkey hunting in the spring because I see them all over the place when I'm driving to the lake in the morning during the spring but I can't give up a nice morning I could be fishing to sit in the woods. Once archery deer season gets here though it usually gets my full attention.

Put other hobbies on the back burner ??? Are you freaking kidding me ?

For about 10 years, I put my entire life on the back burner for fishing.

I would probably be dead by now, of obesity, heart disease, stroke, suicide, etc, etc.... If I hadn't done a 180, 4 years ago, and started putting fishing (and every other part of my life) on the backburner, so I could go overboard with health and fitness.

With my wonderful combination of ADD and OCD, I either don't do something at all, or I do it "off the scale" BIG !

All kidding aside, Zero balance is the story of my life.

Peace,

Fish

I've been restoring a '65 GTO for years.

After winning a Concourse Bronze Award at the GTO Nationals a few years ago,

she's just been sitting in the garage with a cover and 2 alarm systems on much to often.

I'm burned out doing the car show circuit and just want to sit in a boat.

My woodworking and my Corvette (I keep the 7' one-piece rods in the truck) have taken a back seat to fishing.  But I recently adopted a horse, which is a whole new world to me, and it seems he takes more of my fishing time than I anticipated.  But it's also rewarding enough to me to be worth the sacrificed fishing time.

Nope my other hobby is playing music.....and it gets along just fine with my fishing obsession. Sometimes the finances don't agree with both hobbies, but that's a different story.

I enjoy hunting, saltwater fishing, spending time with family and friends, sporting events, etc. but if the BITE is on I am there.

Graphic/Web Design.  I've been designing for 15 years, so it's my day job on the web and my hobby is Logo Design (during the week).  Fishing on weekends

I finally gave up drag racing and sold my beloved 93 Mustang dragster. I have been fishing since i was a young boy and racing since i was 16. Used the $ from the sale to buy my last boat. I work 60-70 hrs a wk so no time for any hobby let alone two! Figured fishing is a little less dangerous and a lot more fun. No cheaper though both are $$ pits!

I teach high school science, and coach varsity basketball.  Bball domininates my life from Nov 1st  - Late February/early March.  I have 4 young kids that dominate the rest of the year.  I bass fish in the spring and summer when I can, and bowhunt whitetails in the fall when I can.

Everything takes a backseat to my family and providing for them.  In about 5 or 6 years when my younger son is out of high school, I'll likely back off the coaching and be able to start looking after my personal hobbies.  I was really really into bowhunting and bassfishing when I only had 2 young kids and wasnt coaching, now the oldest is a senior in high school and the youngest is in KGarten.

I work...a lot. Even more so this year so far. Seems like everything has taken a backburner to that...

There are endless possibilities in fishing and it seems like every time out on the boat/water is an adventure. If you ever get sick of some aspect of fishing (which never really happens) or you want to mix it up a bit, you can challenge yourself.

Example: You could only use bubble gum colored worms for a whole day and make it work or pick 1 type of lure and use it all day. Or you could do a challenge. By the time you finish the challenge, you will either want to go back to what you were doing before because of the nostalgia or you will do another challenge cause it's fun.

Honestly, anytime I usually have some free time I fish. I get out of work at 3:30 and live 5 minutes away from some nice neighborhood ponds, so I fish nearly every day. The only time of the year I put fishing on the back burner is during deer season.

This will be the first year in a really long time im putting down a baseball. Not playing baseball 4 days a week is depressing but...did it to try and fish a lot more. Gonna explore alot more of the lakes around my area. More thoroughly hike the trails and find "the spots" and try to beat my personal best of 5lbs. And got into painting crankbaits and making spinnerbaits to do on days when its pouring out. Hah

I still play softball a few times a week. I don't think it cuts into fishing time too much. I still fish more than most so I'm a blessed man. And ive fished more this year than all of 2013 combined. Its nice not being on the road any more

I'm actually taking up a new (old) hobby this year: hunting. Won't impact me at all during the summer but in the fall I plan to devote some days to grouse hunting so fishing -- for the first time in memory -- will be taking a backseat for a bit later this year.

The only two things I do with time w/o the kids or wife is fish and play poker stars. One supports the other! lol.

I may still have time to go bag a Turkey in the next few days!

I've been twice this year and probably won't go back before season closes.

As a sponsored shooter, I can't really put shooting on the backburner. But I have managed to make extra time for fishing in other ways... Certainly don't have time for other hobbies.

I've always fished.  When I moved to Florida full time 10 years ago I actually was devoting more time to golf, played everyday.  I did do quite a bit of bass fishing in the afternoons.  One afternoon on a whim I went out to the inlet, it was love before I even threw a cast.  Next day I bought an inexpensive saltwater combo (didn't use it too long), 20 some odd combos later I'm totally addicted to the brine, I haven't picked up a golf club in 9 years.
