rhinojoe2014 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I have a jeep wrangler I have completely rebuilt.. Well I am in the process of doing. I rebuilt the engine and suspension. Right now the front dana 60 sits disassembled and awaiting time to put back together. It is hard when all you want to do is fish. Â I have thought about selling it several times, but just cant seem to get it put back together. Quote
(='_'=) Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 when i began fishing, i almost quit rock climbing... i trained during the week, but on weekends i would head to the lake... now im trying to combine both of them... Â oh, and im selling my jeep, i just dont wheel anymore, fishing is a lot more fun... Quote
IowaHusker28 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 To me it is kind of the opposite, but I think that this summer will change a little bit. I used to race Dirt Bikes and go riding all the time but last summer a wrist/ankle injury kept me out about a month and I fished like 4 times a week and started to really love it! We are getting our first boat next weekend so I think it may be more even this year! Quote
xbacksideslider Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Motorcycles, turbo cars, golf - all suffering on account of fishing. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted April 12, 2013 Super User Posted April 12, 2013 One persons avocation is another's vocation; one persons hobbie is another's career. There can be real harm to your vocation wasting time with avocations or hobbies, fishing included. You're first responsibility is establishing a career, very few can make their avocation a vocation and bass fishing, and other hobbies, has caused a lot of heartbreak, lost careers! Boys don't out grow their toys, just the time needed to play with them. Tom   "Tom" sure rhymes with "mom". Cooincidence? Quote
CountBassula Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I recently sold my remaining 8 boxes of Cuban Cigars to fund my new casting rod rigs (got 3 now) and haven't been shooting guns in almost a year, so yea :-) Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 12, 2013 Super User Posted April 12, 2013 "Tom" sure rhymes with "mom". Cooincidence? This old Tom, like mom, is older and wiser. Quote
Nick49 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Still an avid hunter, but gave up spring turkey hunting in order to spend more time fishing. Quote

gripnrip Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I rotate around but I try and do everything that I love. I work out every day just about, ride my bike 3-5 days a week and fish usually 2 evenings a week and one day on the weekend. I also manage to spend a lot of time with my fiancée and two year old son. I am just glad I don't need more than about 5-6 hours sleep a night. My sweet spot used to be 4-6 hours.  Then I got older and remarried and another little one.  That will probably change! lol  I have been pretty much dedicated to working other than family stuff.  Fishing was always the thing I gave up. Until last year.  I suffered an injury from playing rec league hockey.  I thought I tore my ACL.  It wound up being a bad sprain.  Talk about scary.  I had no time at work to use on a surgery and there is no such thing as light duty in my profession.  Workers Comp wasn't an option.  I work and the wife stays at home to raise our little one.  I couldn't afford to do that.  So I gave up hockey.  Fishing mad a helluva come back.  I asked the wife if I gave up hockey, could I start tournament fishing?  I received the nod and here I am.  Fishing consumes my thoughts constantly.  I also hunt and juggle going to Norman to watch my beloved Sooners, hopefully pound their foes into the turf at Memorial Stadium.  Quote
Brian6428 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Yes, I used to build scale models airplanes as well as balsa model planes that flew, but I haven't even sat down at my workbench for those in over a year. Fishing takes priority over those! My only other hobby is baseball and I don't think I will ever stop that. Quote
Brian Needham Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 not really, but I have put my health on the back burner since I have not been to the gym in 2+ years (used to be everyday)....does that count? Quote
BassThumb Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Pretty much all my other hobbies take a backseat in the summer. I have plenty of time during the long winters to focus on the other ones. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted April 15, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted April 15, 2013 We still shoot but the golf clubs have been idle for 10 years and the mountain bike has more dust on it than dirt. Quote
rhinojoe2014 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 And... 5 days after my original post.... My jeep is SOLD. Â Time to buy some fishing stuff, and say goodbye to one of the last things that kept me from fishing.. 1 Quote

piscicidal Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I used to golf twice a week (average) and fish four times a year. Now I fish twice a week (average) and golf four times a year.  My golf game is the best it has ever been, so I guess I found the right mix. 1 Quote

Hyrule Bass Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 well, i am skipping my tribes Pow-Wow this weekend in NC to go fishing at Smith Mountain Lake, VA Â it was an easy choice really. go to pow-wow in nc and spend a bunch of money on gas and food and stuff all weekend, drive 5+ hours, and be tired as hell when i get back monday? OR go to SML and fish, spend little money, ride down with my aunt and uncle, 4.5 hours ride, only spend money on beer and bait, relax all weekend, clear my mind, and be refreshed and relaxed when i get back monday?... BuckMaxx Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I put my relationship on the back burner... I am gonna miss her. Who wants to go to the lake?? 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 19, 2013 Super User Posted April 19, 2013 Actually bass fishing is on the backburner for a while. Â Each year about this time the bite drops off in my area, the humidity intensifies and I hate those d**n gnats. Â Being in Florida something is always happening so I still fish every day, I restart my bass fishing usually late November in earnest. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted April 19, 2013 Super User Posted April 19, 2013 I put largenouth bass.fishing on.hold until june well most of the time. jwhowells Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I compete regularly in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments so I don't totally put it on the back burner but my training does suffer over the spring, summer and fall months. Quote
JEC Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 since I started bass fishing all my other hobbies have seemed to fade away Quote
