Hozed Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Ill get in on this. Hopefully I remember to bring the scale with me every time! I see alot of post views, but no comments... How many Mainers we got on here? Where you guys fishing so far? Quote
kowz76 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Sure why not, even though I don't get much in the way of lunkers. Hozed, I fish Damariscotta Lake pretty exclusively. Boat's not in the water yet though, just been dinking around in the canoe so far. Still trying to figure the fish out in this cold water. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Glad to see there is atleast a couple of guys who like to fish for bass in the great state of Maine Landed a 6-8 Largemouth last weekend Hopefully I will be able to get a bigger one soon Quote
Hozed Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Its been hit or miss with me this year. This past week was decent, caught 18 bass and a 16-18" brown trout on a 6" jerkbait which was fun. Biggest bass was 3-3.5lbs so nothing huge. All my fish have been on a jerk bait, or a blade bait. Quote
BronzeChaser Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I'll give it a shot. I usually don't catch anything over 4 or 5 for largemouth, but I think I've got a shot with the smallies Quote
marinetech Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 first trip out 2 weeks ago on pleasant pond caught 21 LM biggest was 4.12 lbs. Count my fishing partner in to he goes by Stinkus Quote
Hozed Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 first trip out 2 weeks ago on pleasant pond caught 21 LM biggest was 4.12 lbs. Count my fishing partner in to he goes by Stinkus I was there on the 14th, caught 1 fish. Were you fishing the ponds or the stream? I was told I was fishing the wrong area for early season in that place. I threw jigs, jerk baits, wacky worm... pretty much my tackle box. Quote
Stinkus Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 We caught most of them at the mouth of Cobbo Stream on jerkbaits. I'm in for the bragging rights too! Quote
Hozed Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 We caught most of them at the mouth of Cobbo Stream on jerkbaits. I'm in for the bragging rights too! We saw 3 boats there when we came back from up stream into the pond. I have never really fished up at that end in the pond, sounds like I need to start. Was there a tournament there this past week? I had heard there was, and that the winners did pretty well... Quote
Hozed Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Caught a few decent ones the past few weeks, biggest on the scale was 4.5lbs. Caught one yesterday at pleasant pond that went around 6lbs, but the scale wouldnt read so oh well. It wouldnt have broke the 6lb-8oz mark we have set right now anyway! Quote
dagrar Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I'm in pictures maybe difficult but what the heck. Quote
dagrar Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 With the boat hauling vehicle in the shop I banked / waded fished yesterday and went old school with rooster tail and a beetle spin. Caught a one pound LM and a one pound SM which jumped three times. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Anyone still following this ? Quote
kowz76 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 It's been a tough summer for me. Hard time finding good fish and more pressure from tournament anglers than i can ever remember. Seems like every time I go out there are legions of bass boats everywhere. NEVER seen that before on my lake. Had a nice one on today, not near a 6-8, but lost it before I could get it in the boat. Some cold nights coming up. We'll see how that changes things. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 September and October are excellent months to bass fish in Maine. Summer tourists are gone as are the power boaters and jet skiers. The fish move shallow again and as the water cools the bite gets red hot. Fall is such a great time of year to catch some bass ! Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Us FL anglers started a monster with our bragging rights competition lol I'm glad to see more states following suit Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Are you having good participation ? Seems to have tailed off a bit here. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 We have 12 or more people doing it this month I think it's our highest month of confirmed participants. This is the 5th month we have done it to keep it fair we give everyone the first week of the month to declare that they are entering. After that they can still post pics and contribute to conversation but their lengths won't count towards the competition, that's how the new person who is running this months comp set it up and I like it Quote
