I was wondering what is the best bait casting rod under 100$ any brand and size just wondering what peoples favorites are if they own one under 100$

I bought a BPS Carbonlite and it's a great rod. I'm new to fishing so don't have much to compare it to but as a newbie I don't think you could ask for more for that price point.

My vote is for the Veritas by Abu Garcia.

If you do a search on here this topic comes up quite often and can give you a ton of info.

Here it is, if you do a search of the forums you could find numerous topics, but here is a summary of what people will say.

Veritas, *** Black, Compre, BPS Carbonelite, Cabelas Prodigy, Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth, Powell Diesel and St. Croix Mojo.  Since you didn't specify what techniques you want to do with it, I'd say get an all purpose rod 7 MH will do the trick from all of these brands.  It is all your preference in the end.

I have owned the St Croix vertias, and many others and the best thing even close to that price range is the *** black ***, it is am awesome rod, balances great and It's so crisp, the sensitivity compares to a rod with an imx blank!!! But it's only 100 $$!

Pick up a *** *** black 7'1 medium heavy and you can basically fish any technique you want with it. One excellent rod for the money

That is a bold statement.  You have personal experience I'm assuming?

Yes notice as said compares it is not completely as sensitive but very close, for 100 there is no rod on that price range that comes close. I wish I had found them before I bought my other rods, if I had the money I would replace all my rods with them

*** ***, and Abu Veritas will be common answers.  I have never handled a *** rod so I can't help there.  I had a Veritas and didn't care for it.  It was way stiffer then I wanted and I didn't care for the rod being white (the rod color is largely personal opinion but I didn't care for).

I do have a Carbonlite (1 spinning, 1 casting, 1 Carbon black-same blank just with a cork grip) and my dad also has a Carbonlite (spinning).  All of them have been flawless.  They are very light and sensitive and I feel they are correctly labeled in terms of their power.  I had the regular guide basting Carbonlite and traded it for a Carbonlite Micro with a co-worker who bought the micro by accident and wanted the regular guides.  I like the micro's but the regular guides were fine.

That is still pretty bold, I guess I should take a look at them.  So far I haven't found anyone who carries them locally up here.  So if the *** Black is that good,  I wonder how good the *** line would be.  Thanks for the input, but I guess sensitivity is also subjective, but still if your statement is close then it would definitely be something everyone should buy.  Anyone else have this experience?

There is a topic going around about these rods somewhere with around 100 replies and no negative comments, it really is an awesome rod for the price, you can't go wrong with it

I am a big fan of St Croix, but I think the next rod I buy is going to be a Shimano. I fished all day yesterday for crappies with my new Convergence 6' UL spinning rod, and was super impressed with it for only $60. I now want to get a Shimano bass rod to see how I like them. St Croix had great products, and great customer service, but that lifetime over the counter warranty on the Shimano rods seems tailor made to a bumbling, gear wrecking idiot like me.

Be sure to let me know when the St. Croix sell off begins.

There will be none. I am not getting rid of any of them. Just going to dabble with the Shimano's......you know, like I do every year after I say "that's enough, I am not buying any more rods"

*** *** Black. I have a casting and a spinning rod and they are great rods. Very well built and look extremely nice as well. They are also light and balance very well. The sensitivity and feel are amazing.

My vote goes for the Compre, but I haven't touched an *** which is obviously quickly gaining a lot of clout

my dad and i have h2o express ethos 7'mh(his)  and skeete reese 7'3''(mine) big worm/football jig rod. i really like both, but the ethos fills like a blue carrot stix super light, i got my SR during the spring classic with rod trade in and rebate offer i got it for $45 off. but if buying at full retail ethos all the way. and you just take it back to the store and get a new one if it breaks.

I think that $100 range is the sweet spot for great quality rods. Veritas, Mojo Bass, Carbon-Lite, ect.

Cant go wrong with that $100 range. I have made my entire arsenal Mojo Bass rods and I love em.

I hear a lot of great things for the *** *** rods and may be the next rod I buy, but if you want to save $30-$40 to invest in a new reel or more gear I don't think you will be disappointed with the Powell Diesel.  It is a great rod for the money.

I love the Skeet Reese rods, the s-glass cranking rods are great, the flippin stick is awesome, it is more parabolic than most which is nice when setting the hook hard. The entire line up is nice they have tons of different rods for almost any application. st. croix rods are very nice too the mojo series is a good value, the veritas line up is also pretty impressive. But I still like the W&M skeet rods the best.

I picked up a BPS Bionic Blade on sale to use with my Lew's speed spool. It was about $70. Not a bad rod at all.

Otherwise, like everyone else has stated the Veritas and 13 Fish *** are solid choices.
