Super User clayton86 Posted April 10, 2013 Super User Posted April 10, 2013 Well it was beautiful out today all morning a d afternoon till about 30 seconds before I put the kayak in the water then it started raining and hasn't stopped. Still didn't stop me I loaded it up and pushed off to head to my new honey hole. I found this spot Sunday while exploring on my way to a spot iv wanted to fish for years but never could. Sunday I was "trolling" and hooked I to a smallie that came off so I decided to stay there and I got all the fish in my previous post in that spot an today's. this spot is maybe 400 yds from the mouth of Lake Ontario in Johnson's creek. It goes from 4fow with rocky bottom to 10fow with a muddy bottom for about 20yards then goes back up to 4fow for a stretch. In that little hole there is a submerged tree on one side and a stump on the other with a grill hanging in a tree haha my marker of where I anchor and start to fish line up with the grill on one side and a funky tree on the other red neck GPS. So that's the spot now on to today's catches. Only got 3 fish today all good sized. First was a small mouth a 4-12 swimming football that smacked a spinner. Then was the rainbow that hit a Xr50 lipless crank the trout ended up dieing I ripped a gill getting the hooks out so I tied it to a length of para cord and let it bleed out an it is on my buddy's smoker now. Then I got a nice thick northern pike on the same Xr50. By the time I was done fishing I looked like I had fell in the water I was drenched only dry spot was my chest where my PFD was. Had a few more hits but missed them as my hands were pretty prunny and numb I lost some feeling and reaction time. On with pics 1 Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 10, 2013 I don't mind the trout but I'm not a fan of pike I had one on and it took my favorite crank yesterday. Guys are catching smallies all the way up the river to the dam now all have been dinks they said iv only got 4 but the smallest was 3# even iv gone 3, 3-3,3-6,4-12 in my spot. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 10, 2013 Super User Posted April 10, 2013 Nice Job ~ Congrats A cool multi-species outing right there. If the green bass had made a showing, you'd have fished for the "Cycle" btw - you might want to consider throwing a cheap set of Frogg Togg rain gear in your truck - you'll be glad you did. Siebert Outdoors Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Looks like your on having a great ol time catching everything that swims. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 10, 2013 Yeah my mom said that last night when I came home dripping wet lol. I have got a large mouth this year but in a different spot actually on top of said dam. Top of the dam = large mouth, pike bellow the dam smallmouth, pike, trout, salmon heck anything in Lake Ontario. I'm still missing walleye iv seen one so far this year but they arnt in season and I would want to keep it there tasty. Pike are closed right now a well but I can't help that they like bass lures and they all go back. Even the trout are usually catch an release. That one was release but about a minute later I seem like a 4'x4' pool o blood with it in the middle so I paddled over and grabbed it not gonna let it go to waste. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 10, 2013 My son got this Monday might as well throw this in to the everything that swims bag too lol Quote

Super User Shane J Posted April 13, 2013 Super User Posted April 13, 2013 Really cool, man! Love that smallie! Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted April 13, 2013 Super User Posted April 13, 2013 Great fishing. Awesome multi-species spot as you've got three species i nsome stage of spawning there. You might even get a drop back brown if the creek held enough water to winter some browns. Absolutely love the look on your son's face. A tip: Lose the cotton sweatshirt and replace with fleece. Then put a rain jacket over and you'll stay snug. Pneumonia will cost you fish! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 14, 2013 Global Moderator Posted April 14, 2013 Them suckers pull hard when they get that big. I caught a big one trout fishing that I thought was going to be a monster brown trout, what a heart breaker. The look on your boys face in that first picture is priceless, he's hooked for sure. Quote
