moloch16 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Looking for something similar to the Zoom Mag Finesse Worm, except floating so it sticks up. The primary thing is I want it big and thick, not skinny like most shakey head finesse worms. Any ideas? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 Rage Tail Thumper http://www.ragetail.com/news/10/the-rage-tail-thumper-a-10-inchplatic-worm-with-more/ I trim the curly tail along the dotted line you will see on the bait. 8-) Quote
s13john Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 yah zoom magnum flukes, trick and finesse worms do it on a shakey head. even big senkos do good to Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted May 1, 2010 Super User Posted May 1, 2010 Yum big show paddle worm 10 incher. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 1, 2010 Super User Posted May 1, 2010 Netbait C-mac or the T-mac worms! Quote
Shad_Master Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I don't know if this fits your specifications but Lake Fork Ring Fries work great on a shakey head Quote
lk ozark Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I've caught many fish on larger lizards on a shakey head and a couple on 10" RT Anacondas. Quote
BassThumb Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Are you guys using standard shaky jigs with 2/0 hooks for these big baits, or custom? I was having some bigger baits ball up on my Spot Removers last year, costing me some fish. Quote
LilJakeC1 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Strike King 3X 7in. finesse worm! Also try out the Powerbait shakey worms too. Quote
TackleGuru Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Try a Grande Bass Rattlesnake they are insane. Not sure if they float but I was on a boat as a Co-Angler and very jealous of the boater who did have them. (He wouldn't even sell me one for 10 bucks)(He Won) I still haven't bought any but he was putting them on a 1/2oz shakey head jig. Quote
Blue Streak Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 RW I was not aware that the Rage Tail Thumper floated. Do the other Rage Tail baits float? Quote
mntreeman Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Unfortunately what you are looking for is very hard to find. You said big & thick. Most of the replies you have received are for longer worms but there is no thickness. A lot of companies make a 5", 7", & 10" worm and they are all basically the same diameter. The best large worm I have found (now discontinued) was the Berkley Gulp 10" Turtleback worm. The 10" was twice the diameter of the 7". A true big bass lure!!!! Quote
Super User RoLo Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 7.0" Gambler Big Stick The hollow body floats brazenly erect, the skirt-like tail is excellent for deadsticking and the tough plastic head is extremely weedless. Strike King 3x worms (aka: cyberflexxx & elaztech) are also high-floaters, but the soft mushy plastic is not nearly as weedless in heavy cover. Roger Quote
kikstand454 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 if youre looking for a bigger profile in the terms of thickness.... then i would go with a senko style bait. and if youre wanting to use it for a shaky head presentation.... id have to say to go with the strikeking 3x zero. youll have trouble keeping the zero on the bottom with a 1/8oz lead! lol. "Are you guys using standard shaky jigs with 2/0 hooks for these big baits, or custom? " i use shakeys with 3/0's *shrug* Quote
Coonedawg Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Take a Gamakatsu Skip Gap Shakey Head, its made for larger shakey heads, and use a Zoom Magnum Trick Worm. Its a huge bait and it really looks good on that particular shakeyhead. It should be what your looking for. Quote
shadyhaven Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 its amazing how many folks actually read your questions before they tell you what you need! i have been looking for a Floating worm for awhile and they difficult to find. from what i have found roboworm, strike king, powerbait shakey and gambler are your main choices. beyond their selection the japanese have some cool ones, they arent the size you are after but i did see a very big one that floats just cant remember the name, try google. if you really need them big, i would try a custom worm from a smaller company. you never know you could be onto something. ;D Quote
