I've tried a lot of rods in the past few years.

I've come to the conclusion that many times you DO get what you pay for. So therefore, in my opinion:

Shimano CUMULUS, in both casting and spinning: I can see why they discontinued these......too darn good for the price!

Strangely, MEGABASS: I only have 2.....the Orochi Destroyer X4 Rattle Viper, and the Aaron Marten's Limited Drop Shot. What exquisite pieces!

Lastly, the Dobyns Champion Extreme: A beautiful rod that performs as well as it looks.

And yes, those are expensive rods. And I can definitely NOW see why!! One has to actually fish with them in order to fully understand.

X2... yes sir! I can't speak for the megabass rods but this would be my top 3 if we substituted the cumara series for the megabass rods.

Sometime I will pick up a megabass rod (I think...). Though I haven't spent over $280 for a rod yet, I do have a few sticks that come close to the $400 when looking at retail pricing... just afraid the further I go into the darkside the worse it will be!

I certainly can't tell you what the best rod is. But, I can tell you when comparing what you get vs. Money spent, the kistler klx is very tough to beat. Tangle free fuji guides with alconite rings, a north fork c. Blank, and excellent build qualit in the U.S.A. they are very light and responsive with fuji reel seats, no heavy eye popping paints or clear coats. I've been very impressed with mine so far, and no I'm not a sponsor.
