So yesterday was my best day of bass fishing I have ever had in my life. Before I get this story going I will say that this was on a farm pond about 10 acres in size. It was in a pasture and was made about 5 years ago for a sure source of water for the cattle. Anyway I had never fished here before and I had no clue what to expect. It was the hottest day of the year so far, 70 degrees but it was an overcast day and winds gusting in the 20's.  So when we arrive, I thought to throw a spinnerbait with gold colorado blades and fish it kind of slow. The third cast I caught a 3#er. Having no clue what to expect I was already happy about the day because it was my first fish of the year and I didn't think we were going to catch a thing.

So about 15 minutes go by without another bite and I figured we should go try the wind blown side after not getting another bite. This may be the best idea I have ever had. We get to the other side and my friend and I double up within 2 casts of getting set up. Then in about 3 more casts another big fish hits it like its never seen it before in its life, and another and another. I have never caught so many quality fish in my life and I caught my personal best of about 6 and half pounds! I'm not kidding when I say each of us caught about 15-20 fish and not ONE was below the 2 1/2# mark. It was getting to the point where a 3 1/2# "was just another fish". I feel like this is never going to happen again and some might not believe me but wow, even right now its 1:40 am when I am writing this and I'm still shaking thinking about it.

Now, I was one of those guys that thinks that pond fishing was considered almost cheating or you shouldn't show off a private pond fish, but man until you get the opportunity to fish something like that, it's just something that is just hard to explain. I will post a couple of pictures from today but we took so many that my phone died part way through.

But now I ask what was your best day of Fishing! Also sorry for the long post I was just too excited.

Sounds like a great day! And my best day was this past labor day. I caught 5 fish in about an hour and a half, which is excellent for my lake as well as fishing from a dock.

When im in a slump or my confidence is really low and i just can not figure out what im doing wrong or why im not catchin many, theres a few "good" ponds that i go to. I dont think its cheating, fishing is about having fun. Pond fishing is a good way for me slow down, work on technique and build my confidence backup before i hit the lake again. Besides its not like the fish are jumping in your lap, you are still making a presentation. That being said, not all ponds are created equal. Sounds like you picked the right pond on the right day!

Good job on a Good day of fishing! That bass is a chunk!!

Your never cheating by fishing at a pond!! You dont have a dip net the size of the pond swooping it along the bottom. I love going to ponds to try my new baits and just relax. Nice fish though, hopefully you threw them back to see how big they end up getting. Throw some trees along the bank, take good care of that pond and you will be set for life!
