Super User J Francho Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 Bass Pro is good about returns. I forgot my reciept when I went to return a reel and they pulled up the purchase on thier computer. Take it in and they will hook you up real quick. Yep, as long as you used your rewards card, they should be able to look it up. I had over $100 in crankbaits go bad, and they looked it up, and gave me full credit back for them. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 I've never heard of flourcarbon doing what you've described. Mostly it's braid. But it sure seems like ghost drag to me (where the whole mass of line turns freely/slips on the spool). I haven't read every single thread thoroughly so I apologize in advance if I missed something but If the problem persists, take all the line off then, when respooling it, tape the tag end down to the spool so it can't slip. My reel was doing about the same thing and all I could do was scratch my head until several mbrs of this site clued me in. Thanks guys!!!! Quote
Trailer Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 It's not a line slipping issue. It's a spool not turning with featherlite resistance issue. I agree with you guys. I drop $129 on a reel, there better be some customer service with it. But I'm a level headed guy. I'll take it to Bass Pro. They've always been good. The only bad thing is I'm in the twilight zone of Bass Pro stores. I either have to drive to Bossier City, LA or Memphis, TN or Branson, MO. Quote
Oldplug Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I think it would do everyone to listen to RM. The man has a wealth of knowledge on this subject I am sure. RM I have been fishing for over 60 yrs. I have done my share of rod and reel repair. Also made a few rods from scratch. I really like what you said at the bottom of your post. I was trying to make a point that the cost of a reel did not make the fishermen. in the prior post. I do have 3 reels that cost over 100. But they were given to me by a very good fishing buddy who was dying with cancer and wanted me have them. All I can tell you about them is they are gold colored Calcutta 's. I know they are very expensive. He bought all three together (pocket change for him ) several years ago. The reason was he never could cast well. But he never got any better with them either. His problem was he could never get the reel adjusted right and he had the worst feathering thumb I ever seen. I have used them several times, but frankly I see no need for anything like that myself. What I have works fine. They are setting a drawer where they will probably be when I am gone also. Quote

Trailer Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Alright. We can officially call this thread dead. I printed up a return form and talked to the fine folks at BassPro and I can mail it in and they will send me another Revo S. By no means will I bad mouth Abu because I know not everything is perfect. I don't think this is a pattern in their products, but simply an oddity. Thanks to everyone for your answers to my questions...and to some I didn't ask. Quote

Thanks to everyone for your answers to my questions...and to some I didn't ask. Well, I wouldn't say it's a fluke that this happened, since I own a new SX, S, and STX and have had issues out of all 3 in a very short period of time. I can say that after exchanging them, they are flawless. I don't think the quality is in the 3rd gen reels like there was in the gen 2s, as I never had any mechanical issues from any of those. Frustration aside, I love my Revos. Quote
