coak Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 So I've been looking for a single willow bladed spinnerbait for a while now.......and I can't find them anywhere. I was in cabelas today since I had a gift card and came across this single bladed spinnerbait. The arm looks really funky to say the least, as there are multiple bends in the arm for added "vibration". I'm really looking forward to seeing how much vibration the arm truly gives off. Anyway, I'm just curious to see how many if any of you have either 1) used this spinnerbait or 2) have heard anything about this bait or law lures which I think is the company name? Thanks in advance, Coak Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted April 7, 2013 Super User Posted April 7, 2013 Why not just get a standard double willow and take one of the blades off? Quote
coak Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 I haven't been able to bend the wires to remove the top blade on some of mine and have damaged the arms. I also am frustrated how it used to be that every manufacturer would produce/sell single blades and now they've gone the way of the dinosaur. Is there a way to cut the smaller blade off without damaging the arm? The caption under my name says what it says for a reason..........I truly do not know Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 7, 2013 Super User Posted April 7, 2013 So in this spinnerbait http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Lazer-Eye-Pro-Series-Spinnerbaits-Tandem/product/90121/ I would just cut the clevis holding the second blade and leave the beads on there. The other option would be cutting the end off sliding everything off then making a new loop and attaching the single willow back. 1 Quote
TylerVC Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I bought a death shimmer at the classic but I haven't used it yet. The guy who makes them said it was like a mix between a chatterbait and spinnerbait. The arm design creates more surface area therefore supposedly causing more resistance and vibration. It looks to have good components so you might as well by one and give it a try. Quote
Blues19 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I was thinking like flyfisher, just cut off the clevis thats holding the other blade on. Some wire cutters should be able to cut it pretty easy without making a huge deal. I would think that once the blade is off, you could just bend the halves of clevis back and forth and they should just snap off pretty easily. You could get a $1 bait at walmart and try it out. If it doesnt work, you could go get one of those goofy looking armed baits. It looks goofy, but I'm sure it works. good luck, buddy Quote
Lil'skeeter Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Check these out. This guy fishes the FLW Pro Am. I have a few of his spinner baits and they're really good. http://www.2mfishing.com/ Click "where to buy" Then click spinner baits. His page needs updating but he has the color and blade set up to want. If you like you can PM me and let me know what your looking for and I can make sure you get a quick response. Here are a couple of mine. I should've re-sized them but was in a rush. I can email them if you like. Quote
5fishlimit Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I got one after reading about them in a magazine, but after a few uses it is just sitting in my tackle box. The added surface does increase the vibration, but it also brings back more weeds/grass than a straight wire. I also noticed that it will turn on its side much more when burning it back. It will probably never see the light of day, and be a "loaner" when I'm out with a fishing buddy. Quote
SDoolittle Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I was in the same situation a couple of weeks ago. I went to Cabelas looking for a single blade spinnerbait, and all i found was the Death Shimmer. I bought two of them, and I used one of them last weekend. They seem like decent spinnerbaits, and they do put off quite a bit of vibration. I can see how they might pick up a lot of grass, but I didn't have that problem. Quote
coak Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Thanks guys for all of the information. RiverRat I will definitely be checking your website out in the near future. I just have a hard time ordering things online because I do not have a paypal account. However, if you accept CC's I'm am very inclined to help support a small businessman who makes their product here in the U.S. still. Once again thankyou to everyone for all of the helpful information. I'm glad to see that there are both ways I can modify my own spinners and guys that still produce a single blade spinnerbait if I need to buy one. Coak Quote
