CC268 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Hey guys, I have been making myself sort of a "Beginner's Guide to Bass Fishing" on Microsoft Word over the past month or so since I got into bass fishing. All of the info on my guide is either from some article on Bass Resource or from Bass Resource's YouTube videos. It is basically a "fishing manual" I take out with me when I go fishing. Everything in my current tacklebox is talked about in my manual. I thought it was really nice to have something that had everything together instead of searching for articles when I got home. Anyways, some of you may think its stupid, but it has been a useful guide to me and if you have any suggestions or things to add to any section let me know! Feel free to use it if your a beginner like me! https://www.dropbox.com/s/oaasu6dgxm1pmuy/Bass%20Fishing.docx Added: - Double Fluke Rig Quote
nascar2428 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Good job!! Any learning tool that helps you catch bass and keeps you at the water is a good thing. Quick question, where's the chapter on knots? I have a knott app on my phone for those times I have a brain fart. Some of us old guys get those from time to time. LOL Quote

LOL I suppose that would be a good one...although the only knots I use are improved clinch and palomar...I also find that I need a video in order to learn a knot if its somewhat complicated Quote
CC268 Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Well if anyone has any suggestions or anything to add let me know Quote
Fishing N Boots Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Looks good. Knots is definitely a good thing to add. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 I see it as an outline to a good article. Flesh it out, using sentences and paragraphs, and use your own photos of the rigs instead of copyrighted material and submit it to: http://www.bassresource.com/fish/article_submission.html Quote

I'm sure you can do just as well as some of the other writers here. Give it a whirl. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 I agree with senile1. A beginner's perspective - especially the details they found useful to advancing their skills - is just what other beginners want to hear. Quote

Well if I have time and maybe once I add a few more things I may do it. I am really busy with school right now, but for now hopefully this will help out some beginners Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 Have your English teacher give you a hand. Quote
CC268 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Have your English teacher give you a hand. Haha I don't have an English teacher...I am in my third year of Mechanical Engineering at Northern Arizona University Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 Gotcha. Chances are you know a technical writer. You definitely have some resources there. Just saying, it might take an hour or two to put something together. Quote
Super User Teal Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 Good stuff. Agree with Francho, clean it up , make some adjustments and submit that bad boy. Quote
CC268 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Hmmm...maybe I will do that sometime. Maybe a paragraph for each of the major lures like jigs, texas rig, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, dropshot, and flukes. The reason I put it into a Word document and kept it short and concise was that I find it much easier to follow when you are out fishing and you simply: 1. Look at what you need to rig it up 2. The different techniques for fishing it It keeps it very short and sweet. Articles are great, but no one wants to bring out 50 different articles and read a paragraph while they are fishing haha. Like I said though, I may just write up an article covering the basic lures and then keep this on here for people to use while they are out fishing. I may decide to right an article this weekend. ** Added Double Fluke to document - this is a bad ass rig Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 10, 2013 Super User Posted April 10, 2013 I'm telling you man, some fresh input from your perspective would be great. Quote

CC268 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 At the end of my article am I allowed to put a link to this thread so people can my "fishing manual"? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 10, 2013 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 10, 2013 I highly suggest rewriting it, using your own words. Otherwise you run into copyright and plagiarism issues. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 10, 2013 Super User Posted April 10, 2013 I'd just summarize the best points you want to make, and leave it at that. Or, describe your list, and encourage the reader to make their own. Remember, the article stands on it's own, separate for the forum and the web. Quote
CC268 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Alright gotcha, and I would of course rewrite it if I wrote an article about it haha Quote
