Getting the boat ready to go out today I was reaching under the console from outside the boat. The stepstool I was standing on collapsed and as I fell, my arm caught under it and the rail. Thought I broke it, but torn triceps and a severe strain on the major support muscles on the back side of my mistake shoulder will have me on the 15day D/L.

I'll try not to whine and work hard at keeping the green eyed monster in check as I read all about your spring successes.

I did something similar recently. I went to step out of the boat, missed the fender step and hung the back of my leg between the throttle and steering wheel with all my weight.

15 days U R lucky thats is all.  I tore the bicep from tendon in my left arm while trying to caught a calf and just had surgery on it Tuesday, I can't lift over 5 lbs for 6 weeks.  May not get in much spring fishing this year (sucks)  But like Dink said it could be worse.  Get better soon so U can give the big ones hell

That's sucks man, but if i can give a word of advice is to stay AWAY FROM THE INTERNET!! The bait monkey can ruin you in your time of recuperation!

Great advice. I wonder if there are any parental controls that would block access to fishing related sites????

Mace, I feel your pain. Literally  I missed out the better part of the 2003 season after shoulder surgery on that same arm. The surgery was done on the wrong shoulder, ergo the mistake shoulder reference.

PapaJoe, I think  you realize that we can get easily injured in the driveway as we can on the water.

I have fallen out of my boat only one time - in the driveway!

We take so many things for granted that we just go forward with our plans not realizing the hazards around us.

Speedy recovery and get back on the water ASAP.

Ohhh snap. I feel for you man. I strained my upper hammies where the connect to the lower back. I've been bowed up for the last four or five weeks. I about went nuts not being able to go to the gym and lift. On the plus side I could still fish. However i was looking like quazimodo. Fortunately its finally better. I'm back to doing what I love again. Totally messed my cut up too. I gained instead of losing.

Torn muscles are no joke. Take it easy until its completely healed. I ripped the upper head off my left bicep some 6 or 7 years back, doing something stupid. Well I didn't listen to the doctor and was back working three days later. I ended up messing it up more than it originally was. The muscle atrophied and I now have I giant dent in my arm where it should be. It took the better part of a year for the pain to go away from that. Matter of fact it still hurts every once in a while.

OUCH...

Got a fish story for ya.

Fished my first Heartland yesterday. We were catching fish and a boat went by...I tripped and thought I was headed over the side. Chin hit side of boat (thought I had been punched) Thumb caught on something and ripped a large chuck of skin and flesh off. Shook it off and kept fishing...was a good day.

Got home was invited to son and daughter in laws house for dinner (awesome)(get to play with 2 and 5 year old) Was playing with 2 year old and ripped the toenail off the big toe on right foot!!! Kids saw all blood and I know they were thinking glad its not me.

Kind of a brutal day. You get well soon and plan a fishin day at the end of your doctors orders

Wow, after a day like that I'd be afraid to go to sleep with my ceiling fan going.
