KenDammit28 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 what causes the difference in price between your baby bass series and bluegill series? Quote
Lightninrod Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I'll take a guess as I have used and caught Bass with both. Size, detail, more colors, balance(the Bluegills will stand upright on their 'nose' when resting on the bottom), etc? Dan Quote
Mattlures Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Labor. Plain and simple it takes 3 times as long to make a gill. Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but It seemed better than making another one. Mattlures, I fish some pickerel infested waters, and I am timid about fishing your swimbaits in them. Your baits are very well priced, but $26 (w/ shipping) is a whole months allowance for me and I have nightmares about loosing my Bluegill. Do pickerel strike swimbaits often? Do pickerel even target sunfish? If I happend to get a pickerel on, how much damage would be done to one of your baits? Is there anyway I can prevent them striking or the damage done as a result? (i'm not worried about line damage, I'm worried about lure damage) Thanks a ton Matt PS Nice first name Quote
Mattlures Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I get asked all the time from musky guys about how well the baits will hold up and do they work for muskies. My answers are yes of course they work and they work well from the reports I get but..... I do not recomend buying them for muskies. They wont last. A muskie will tear them up. I assume a pike will do the same damage. I dont know of a way to catch bass and keep the pike and muskies away. I dont have them where I live. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Dude muskies will eat any thing they can get they jaws on. Up here in muskie land any thing that swims is musky food. They have found every thing from small ducks to small fish in them. They have also been knowen to attack people that have the hands in the water. But to what I have read its only the bigger ones like 40 plus. It aslo very rare that it happens. But thats a good point matt them soft body lures like your swim bait wont last long. If your catching muskie after muskie all day it might last just that day. I see them soft bodied swim baits in the muskie section and for 20+ dollers. There not worth it for muskies at least to me. KenDammit28 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 Labor. Plain and simple it takes 3 times as long to make a gill. painting process I'm assuming or is it detail things like fins and shape and size and all that kinda stuff? Quote
Mattlures Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 vurtualy every step takes longer with the gills. from start to finish there are 8 major steps in making the gills, and apoxamatley 20 individual steps The bass has 6 major steps and aprox 10 individual steps. The gills are just more time consuming. The actual componets only cost a little more for the gills. Its all Labor. They are a pain to make! The bass are much easier. Quote
KenDammit28 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 thats cool. I was lookin at em on a site someone posted here and was just curious. looking into maybe buying one of the bluegills as my first MAJOR swimbait purchase. Quote
Gotta Love It Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Matt... do you make each one yourself or do you have employees? Quote
Mattlures Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I have 2 almost full time employees and 4 part time emplyees not counting myself. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 21, 2007 Super User Posted March 21, 2007 I have 2 almost full time employees and 4 part time emplyees not counting myself. Matt, you don 't count as employee, you are the owner which in real terms it means that you are the slave of the business, no salary, no vacations, no nothing. Quote
Mattlures Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Raul you sir have obviously owned your own business! Funny thing is I actualy started selling my baits because I couldnt afford to by a bass boat. Well now I have a boat but I hardly ever have time to use it. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 21, 2007 Super User Posted March 21, 2007 Exactly Matt, when you 've got the time you don 't have the money, when you have the money you don 't have time .... the never ending story :. Quote
