bass1980 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Go to thier site and you can print an ad for your local Walmart. People in my areas doing this all over. I swear walmart is so freakin cheap and dumb. Some are not honoring it and some are allowing gen 2's for sale. It's like a bunch of monkeys run that place and whatever goes, goes. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 16, 2013 Global Moderator Posted April 16, 2013 I got a 6' 6" Gen 2 spinning rod for 29.99 this morning. They didn't have any of the older ones, just the Gen 2 rods. They had a ton of the YUM baits and cranks that were in the ad, got plenty of those too. Quote
barroncooper Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I just went a nd picked up the only 2 that my walmart had. I've never used one, but for 30 bucks, i don't see it a bad find. I got the 7' mediums and I swear they're stiffer than my bucoo 7' heavies. I understand that the bucoo series is a little underpowered but I didn't think this much Quote
ncbassfisher1496 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I'm headed there this afternoon to pick up one...or maybe two! Just went there and picked up a 7 ft medium and sadly its a gen 1. Quote
Globadoc Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Picked up a Gen 1 7' casting rod yesterday. I mistakenly took a Gen2 up to the counter to ask about the sale price. The area supervisor was in the store and was savvy enough to read the tag and know that it was not the one on sale (VTC70-5 vs VNTC70-5). Unfortunately, she looked it up on the computer and let me know that there were no more in the store's inventory. Even more fortunately, I found a Gen 1 in the bucket of miscellaneous rods in the back of the sporting goods section. Thanks for posting this. I had an 1-1/2 year old Silver Max in the garage that pairs with this one perfectly. Quote
jhoffman Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 All my place had was gen 2 and they werent having it Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 18, 2013 Super User Posted April 18, 2013 Where can you get the sale flyer? I got it in the newspaper, but I've seen them in store you showed them the add and you got the new ones? Yup, they did the override at the fishing counter, All my place had was gen 2 and they werent having it Go back with the flyer, it states 30 TON graphite, SS guides, Zircon inserts. Here's the flyer Think it's valid til the 20th Quote

Either way, its a good deal on a rod even if it is the V1 Quote

Either way, its a good deal on a rod even if it is the V1 I did this three times at two different walmarts, one of the already knew this was commonly happening and never had a problem with it. the others didn't care. i'd go look at another walmart or try a different department within the store and try again, good luck to you This is the way they made the advertizement, even the tackle bag they have right next in the ad even has different colors. CTGalloway21 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 At the wal mart in Millbrook, AL, the Vendetta 1s were the $29.99 and the Vendetta 2s were still $79.99. Still a great price for the Vendetta 1s. Quote
wannafishmore Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Bought one yesterday. Was marked $65, the self scanner said $49. Asked the guy at the fishing counter if it was the one in the ad. He scanned it, which of coarse came up with the $49 price. He said "Nope, this one's not $29, the only one of those I have left is over there in the corner". I picked up that one and showed him it was the same rod, just different action and length and he said "nope" and totally blew me off!!! I stood there for a while figuring out what I wanted to do and he was acting like he was busy moving stuff on the shelves but I could see him watching me like I was going to switch the stickers or something. I finally took the original one that I wanted, grabbed a flyer by the entrance and brought it to a checkout. I told them it wouldn't scan right, they looked at the flyer and changed the price. It's no wonder I try to avoid Wallymart! Quote

It's no wonder I try to avoid Wallymart! Yeah, they had 4 casting rods left. 2 were 7' and 2 were 6'6". THe 6'6" were marked $29 and the 7' were marked $64. I showed the dude at the store that they were the same thing just different size and he told me he would give me the $29 price on the 7'. I went to get some milk and decided I would get a 6'9" ML spinning rod that I will use for senkos ans grubs. Now I just need 2 new reels. Quote
Blues19 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Thats EXACTLY what they did at mine. I had the ad from online and the sale flier in my hand, the color one from their register. I'm not too concerned. I like the V1 anyway. If it ends up breaking, with that 3 year warranty they will most likely send a V2 to replace. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 19, 2013 Super User Posted April 19, 2013 Just looked at another Walmart 35 miles away, looks like they changed the flyer to fix the problem Quote

TNBassin' Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 V1 or V2 they are both good rods for the money. I have both, and like I've said, the V2 is a little less tip heavy and more true to it's power rating, but that's it. The 7" M V1 would make an awesome worm rod. Especially at that price. And LMBO at how many people scooped up this deal. I figured most would blow it off when I posted lol. Quote

I remember the good old days where mistaken ads were honored, guess that's what you get when you outsource your advertisement firm who know nothing about the products. But then again there is NO specification listed in the flyer. I think the only difference listed on the V1 states Pac bay on the rod pamphlet and the V2 just says SS guides with Zirconium. Quote
jhoffman Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 We are visiting family so I decided to take a gamble being in the city that they would have the V1. They did but it was marked at $40. Took me almost an hour to get them to honor the price but I brought one home. Im going to pair it with a bass pro bionic reel and make it a topwater rod. The store had out sales fliers for sales that being the 28th, they didnt have one copy of this flier in the store. Quote
Blues19 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 First cast with my Vendetta Spinning rod, "Snap" it broke about half way up. I was irritated. All I had was a flick shake with finesse worm. ugh. Quote
Lazz Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Sorry for bringing it back ...Hahaha I got a question though So I ended up getting the 7'M V1 got away with it for $29 plus tax. I finally got a chance to put a real on it..PQ 6.4.1 an some 40lb Suffix 832 on it this morning and was going to get out with it today but unfortunately it started to pour out... after recalling the 10 pages a lot of guys here saying...like the one above...first cast snapped the rod... So my question...would it be a really bad idea to use this set up, specifically the rod, with horny toads? Quote
Blues19 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I think it will be fine. mine had to have been previously damaged to snap on the first cast. I got 2 others that are just fine Quote
