my buddy jeremy had seen all the bass I was catchin earlier in the week so he asked me to take him fishin this mornin. so we woke up before the crack of dawn and  hit the same lake I was at a few days ago where I had some success (check my other post).

I was fishing with an AbuGarcia promax reel on my new Falcon BuCoo Micro Guide 7ft rod. Using the same crankbait I've been having luck with all week. we get to the lake around 6:55AM and the sun is just startin to come up. and the bass are exploding on top water. i was already drooling.

First fish on within 5 minutes of arrival was a little 1.5 pounder..my buddy was stoked just to catch something. but in my head im thinkin.. not bad, but not my cup of tea.

about 10-15 casts later I hook up to what feels like a real fatty, she starts pullin drag and never jumps up so I really don't know how big she is until i get her right to the bank. luckily i landed her and was able to get a picture, weigh her out, and safely release her to catch another day. I was really happy with this catch, definitley the biggest bass I've caught since last summer in South florida, and definitely the biggest I've landed in Jacksonville to this day (I've only lived here for about a year now). she weighed 5.3 pounds and was just a really beautiful largemouth.

I keep walking around the lake and casting, over the next 45 minutes me and my buddy pull up around 6 little 1.5 - 2.5 pounders, so the day is going good, but I don't think anything can top my 5 pounder from earlier in the morning.

all of a sudden I make a kook cast (new to the baitcaster, only got my lure about 6 feet in front of where I was standing. #kook move) and mumble under my breath "crap!" but out of nowhere, I feel my line get tight real quick and start pullig drag like i hooked a d**n alligator. my rod was bending like I was fightin a tarpon, and this bass sure d**n near faught like one too!

after about a 8-10 minute legit fight with this sucker, i finally get her up to the bank, and my buddy was  convinced its the same one i caught earlier. i knew it was bigger and stronger. I was able to capture a picture and weigh her out, and she was 6.4 pounds on the dot. I went from the biggest bass of the season to an even bigger one! what a d**n great day out on the lake and a great day of florida bassfishing. and I was back home by 10am, while my roommates were all still sound asleep! early bird gets the worm!

tight lines y'all,

Kyle

Thanks man i appreciate it. All I've been using (and tearin the bass up) is the same 5xd StrikeKing crankbait. I was always more of a texas-rigged trickworm kinda guy, but since I've put this crankbait on I haven't been able to take it off. thats over 20 bass on it alone this week. my buddy was using a trickworm and had his fare share of 2 pounders but the crankbait has been makin magic for me lately.

tight lines,

Kyle
