joejoe352 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 I have the new model crucial, 7'2 MH xf tip, its a nice rod, a little more sensitive than my ***. But not by much at all. I TRULY believe you would like the *** the best. The reason i say that is beacuse the balance and weight is ALOT better than the crucial. And i know you said you dont care about the weight or balance, but trust me those two things are a big part of a good fishing rod.Go for a 7'3 MH and enjoy! Looks like I will be calling gander mountain to see if they have any in stock, so you like it more than the crucial? Quote
joejoe352 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Just checked there website and the tallest rod they have is 7'1 Quote
motodmast Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Just checked there website and the tallest rod they have is 7'1 Look on Tackle warehouse. They have all the models(6'7-7'11). plus free shipping and excellent customer service. And its very close but, yes i do like it more than my crucial. The sensitivity between the two is identical, but the balance and weight of the *** is better than crucial, so its a winner for me. Quote

Do you know how long the shipping takes? and do you think there would be a major difference between the 7'1 and 7'3, I am going to be passing my gander on my way out if town tomorrow, and was planning to do a tournament this weekend, but if the difference would be noticeable I can wait for the rod also Quote
motodmast Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Where do you live? Tackle warehouse is in california, i live in wa state and it takes 3 days for a rod to get to me. Thats the standard shipping, you can upgrade shipping not sure how much more it is. Not that much i believe. Quote
motodmast Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 No theres notuch difference, maybe a little farther casting distance, but not much, and the 7'3 would be better in deep water.. but i think you will be plenty happy with the 7'1 Quote
joejoe352 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 I'm in Florida haha ill check shipping costs, but would 2inches difference mean a lot of Lose in casting distance? Quote
motodmast Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 No not at all. Its all about your reel. I have a revo sx on my 7'3 and on my 6'6 and I can cast a 3/8oz jig the same difference with both rods. The 7'1 should be perfect for you. I use my 7'1 for spinnerbaits, and jigs t rigs use about everything with it except cranks.. And I use my 7'3 for deeper water stuff like Carolina rigs, and football heads and spoons. The 7'1 is perfect for skipping baits under docks also. I get that 7'1 you'll love it. When you get to gander Mt, and they might have a 7'3 in stock.. There websites probably wrong when it says the longest rod they carry is a 7'1 when the *** series goes all the way to 7'11 maybe they forgot to put an extra 1 at the end.. Call the store and ask them. I that's what I would do. Quote
motodmast Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 which gander are you going to the one in lake mary or the one in ocala? these are the phone numbers for each store Lake Mary:(407) 804-0514 Ocala:(352) 351-6186 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted April 4, 2013 Super User Posted April 4, 2013 If you go to American Legacy Fishing you can get the discontinued Shimano Cumara 6'8" MH/XF if you aren't dead set on the 7' length. This would be most sensitive (higher tier) than the standard $150 rods everyone is recommending. For 132 on sale right now, normally retails at 219. They also have a 7' medium fast available for lighter plastics for 142. Quote
joejoe352 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 I would be going to lake mary, thanks for the numbers and that sounds like an awesome deal but I like to see my rods before I buy them Quote
joejoe352 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 And I'll bring the lews tournament pro with me when I go, Ill get the 7'3 if they have it! Quote

That is why I haven't pulled a trigger on buying a Phenix Recon 2. They get rave reviews, but I just can't do it without holding one. (Can't find local dealers) Same for the Champion Extreme, I hear great things, but I can't find a local shop that carries them in stock. I did get to hold a Champion and Savvy, but compared to the discontinued Cumara it just didn't compare to me... Good luck though! Quote
BrettD Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I'm in Florida haha ill check shipping costs, but would 2inches difference mean a lot of Lose in casting distance?
