motodmast Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 My smallest was a rock bass. I was throwing a drop shot with a 3.6 inch jp hammershad, and i didnt even feel the rock bass. Needless to say, the rock bass was smaller than the bait, dont know how it got hooked but it was pretty funny Quote
wakeeater Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 i was fly fishing in the smokies & caught a trout slightly bigger than the nymph i was slinging. Quote
PondHunter Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Flyfishing here too. I stripped in the slack to start my backcast, and saw something on my line. Figured I had snagged a leaf or something till it got closer. Ended up being a tiny baby Bluegill. I cast him back into the pond then brought the line in and turned him loose. Quote

Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted April 3, 2013 Super User Posted April 3, 2013 Mine was small but not tiny. Around 9 inches. And I have to add, LOL at PondHunters avatar. 1 Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 As you guys can see his title says smallest fish, not bass. Quote
rtp8989 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I caught a bluegill about the size of a pack of cigarettes while muskie fishing a Rapala J-13. It managed to get its mouth around the whole back treble and was hooked by all 3 hooks. Strangest hooking I've ever seen Quote
wnybassman Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Smallmouth. Might have caught a bluegill or two smaller, but pictures were not taken. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted April 4, 2013 Super User Posted April 4, 2013 Who cares? We have all caught very small fish. So what? Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I've caught really small blue gill on fly poppers. Those are probably the smallest fish I have caught. Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Who cares? We have all caught very small fish. So what?are you referring to me? Quote
Spdbump Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Caught a 2in perch sucking on the end of a 6in Senko. Thought it was a piece of tule. Still count it though it made it on the boat! Quote
loodkop Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 We fish artificial lure tournaments where points are awarded for the number of different species you can catch. This means that I will use down to a size 32 hook with a tiny piece of plastic to catch guppies and minnows that can be smaller than an inch. The smallest I can recall ( caught legally in the mouth not foul hooked in the body) was measured at just less than 1cm. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 7, 2013 Super User Posted April 7, 2013 Mine was my first fish in a fly rod....about a 2-3" brookie I have snagged some smaller minnows and a few crayfish but those don't count. Quote
