The improved clinch knot can be tied fast. My grief with it is that its original version had to be "improved". If something needs to be improved, it usually means there was a fault in the original. The san-diego double jam is so much better IMHO. You can do the single jam or double jam.

I guess that's my issue with the SDJ, something must be wrong with it since it needs to be "doubled".....hahhahahahhahahahahhahahhahahahahahaha

I understand there may better knots or knots that test well on a competitive demonstration like knot wars. If you want to get technical there is probably an idea knot for each type of line out there. The last few years I put hours into perfecting a few knots. The improved clinch or my version of it is simply the strongest and easiest for me tie. I have all the faith in the world in this knot and its strength. I can tie this knot in under 20 seconds. I have seen others tie versions of the clinch or improved clinch and simply put there knots weren't as good "looking". They actually asked me if I would tie it for them.

Sorry, not trying to brag but this is the knot I will continue to use for everything until results tell me otherwise. Pitzen, San Diego jam, Palomar, etc... all are good knots and for the guys out there that tie them and have confidence in them that is all that really matters. Just happy to have options to find one that works best for said user.

I used the Clinch/Improved Clinch for years in my youth with never a problem.  I took the written word as truth that the Uni Knot was better, and have used it every since.  I agree that no one knot is the end all.  Tie the one you have confidence in, and are able to tie correctly without even thinking about it.

Anchoring the hook is a good idea.  I haven't learned how to tie a good Alberto Knot without using a piece of tape to hold down my doubled line.  Just like with anything....practice is the key.

Really?  I find it one of the fastest and easiest knots to tie without creating a giant tag end to cut.  I've also used palomar with no issues too but SDJ knot is faster especially with trebles and wire baits.

Guess I am going to have to spend some time learning this knot.  I hate have to cut off several inches of tag end every time I need to retie or change lures.

I was trying to find you a *** video of one of the guys tying the knot. If I can track it down, I'll link it to you but so far I can't seem to recover it.  It was quite some time when I first saw it so maybe it's archived or something.

Keep practicing it, definitely worth while to know if you continue to use Fluoro.

There are ideal knots for certain lines, techniques, and conditions. I always use the ideal knot. This gives me confidence. I could see how getting good at tying one knot would give confidence. The "C" In Catching....is for confidence.

A neat knot goes a long ways towards its strength. Spending hours to perfect a knot is a good plan. Many people DO NOT understand the importance of practicing their knots. Fluorocarbon will let you know if you are tying poor knots. I suggest you try some superglue to prevent slippage associated with poor knot construction. (this does not apply to your case since your knots are perfect)

Plain and simple. Quickest knot for me to tie. Been using it for so many years. Especially in saltwater catching shark, tarpon and snook from the jetty, Never a problem with the knot. Got cut off, but no knot failures,
