When I have used pure FC, and tying to say, a worm hook, I will tie a snell each and every time.

If I were tying to a lure, I'd carefully tie a palomar with plenty of spit. I've also used a clinch knot being careful to keep it plenty wet.

I use the same for flourocarbon and mono lines.

Palomar works fine and will get the job done if you are constantly checking your line. I found the San Diego Jam to be a much superior knot in my experiences. Very easy to tie and holds the %#$% out of baits/snags.

THIS IS THE KNOT I TIED

SAME AS THE SAN DIEGO?

I PULLED A 15FT BROKEN TREE LIMB OUT TO THE BANK WITH A PALOMAR AND 20LB FC AFTER I GOT MY RED EYE SHAD HUNG UP.

Web search; fluorocarbon knot

You will get dizzy with all the FC knots being touted as the best knot. Shaw Grigsby has promoted the same (double San Diego jam knot) under at least 3 different names the past 2 years.

The problem with FC knots is deforming the line while clinching the knot tight, this reduces the knot strength about 25% on impact or sudden pulling force.

The key is practice tying whatever knot you prefer until you can do it with ease and have good results every time. Retying knots under fishing conditions; controlling the boat in windy, cold, waves, poor light is very important. Never leave FC knots tied over night or longer than 24 hours.

Just recently started with fluorocarbon and have been tying San Diego jam with no problems other than it being complicated to tie

improved clinch.

really any knot will work, cinch down slowly with LOTS of spit. Tie whatever knot you can make PRETTY. pretty, perfectly stacked knots don't fail.

Really?  I find it one of the fastest and easiest knots to tie without creating a giant tag end to cut.  I've also used palomar with no issues too but SDJ knot is faster especially with trebles and wire baits.

In my personal opinion, finding a knot that you can tie quickly, comfortably, and cleanly is more important than searching for the "best" knot.

I use the Improved Clinch with lots of spit. Fluorocarbon burns very easily, so using adequate lubrication is very important.

San diego jam knot. Double san diego jam knot. Best flouro knot there is imo. Shaw grigsby uses it i know.

The trick I have found to make it easy to tie the SDJ is to place the hook around something as you make the twists around the line. Sorta like a third hand. I have a spot on my tackle box the use to put a little tension and off I go. Hope that helps you out. Dumped the palomar after trying the SDJ. :)

I use the San Diego Jam for fluoro, and mono.  I stopped using braid 3 or 4 years ago and would use the SDJ for that as well if I still used braid.

Will have to try this! I have found my problem to be the lure spinning and me loosing the spot to loop back through

SDJ is "THE" knot to tie.  It works great for all 3 line types, and once I started using it I've never even thought of tying anything else.

IMHO The SDJ knot is hands down the best floro knot there is.

Same thing for this guy. Frankily, I have sort of got the improved clinch down to where I can use it for any line and have confidence in the knot. The key is to make sure everything secures together properly. I find that I can ties this knot the fastest, most efficiently and in most any condition including low light periods.

There probably isn't a right or wrong answer here, just make sure whatever knot you choose is tied properly cinches down well.

The improved clinch knot can be tied fast. My grief with it is that its original version had to be "improved". If something needs to be improved, it usually means there was a fault in the original. The san-diego double jam is so much better IMHO. You can do the single jam or double jam.

As long as you wet the line good, the palomar is fine with fluoro. Some will say other wise, but I've seen too many pros say it's fine, plus you tested it yourself and didn't have any issues.
