Super User Felix77 Posted April 2, 2013 Super User Posted April 2, 2013 I just bought the Scatter Rap Countdown (Silver). I never used a countdown lure in general but I assume it sinks roughly at 1 foot per second. I get the countdown part but what about the retrieve? Is it generally a steady retrieve or like a jerkbait? Thanks Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 2, 2013 Super User Posted April 2, 2013 Just mix it up.Stop and go,jerk it,or swim it back, one of the ways I liked to fish it was swim and shake the rod.Great bait that can cover skinny water to the deep water.I don't think it is a foot a second because a senko sinks a foot a second and the count down is less than a senko. I could be wrong about the weight ? Quote
Super User MCS Posted April 2, 2013 Super User Posted April 2, 2013 I use the standard count down and most of the time I count to my depth then steady retrieve. it works but that is just me. You can also yo-yo it too and it is a slower drop than say a lipless. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted April 2, 2013 Super User Posted April 2, 2013 They fall a little faster than a fps, depending on line diameter, I like to use heavy mono and fish them like a JB when fish are deeper and active this time of year. But they work well as a stop and go crank when fish are deeper year round. This is for the older one, I haven't tried the scatter one. Good multi species bait. Quote
Super User Marty Posted April 2, 2013 Super User Posted April 2, 2013 It's like so many other things; there's no one best method. Mix it up and see what happens. Usually i do a stop and go. The Couintdown catches anything that swims and I would imagine the Scatter version would too. Quote
