Super User Felix77 Posted April 1, 2013 Super User Posted April 1, 2013 I spent the morning on Sunday testing the waters around one of my favorite fishing spots. 5 of us hit this spot and we each caught between 2-3 fish. A lively bunch considering the temps. Below is a pic of my 2. One keeper and another about a 2-3lbs. That one I caught on a shakey head and baby rage craw. So the bite is still very slow. You have to watch your line. Neither of these bites were aggressive at all! It's fun to be out there again!!! Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted April 1, 2013 Super User Posted April 1, 2013 Congrats man, I still can't go out! Still have to wait 82 days for the season to open. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 1, 2013 Super User Posted April 1, 2013 Rub it in. LOL.....Soon, very soon I hope. In WNY, I know there is open water somewhere within an hour drive in any direction from me, but I don't like to go far the first time out, at least till I make sure there are no unseen issues with stuff from sitting around all winter. But ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....it's cold and snowing again here today. So that rule might get tossed out the window if it's too much longer. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 1, 2013 Super User Posted April 1, 2013 The small lakes and rivers by me are open I think my first small mouth will come this weekend. Chasing trout Friday me and my buddy spotted gobys and some perch in the river in less then a foot of water and about 10miles up stream. In the past that was always my sign to grab a rebel wee craw crank and start tossing it in the pockets around the rip rap.....that's my plan Thursday or Friday evening. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted April 1, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 1, 2013 Hang in there guys ... it's coming. I was shocked to get out when I did. A little early up here. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 1, 2013 Super User Posted April 1, 2013 Early!? This is a late start to fishing here. Usually my favorite lake is thawed and I'm getting a few slow bites by mid march heck today 2 years ago I was walking the wall by the dam in shorts and a t shirt slaying both large and smallmouths on a orange rattletrap. That same lake is still mostly frozen with just a few spots thawed. Quote
JellyMan Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 I'm hoping to get out this weekend here in Vermont. Good news is I'm back in Florida in a month. No more of this waiting junk. Quote
