tentimesover Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I got 5 bass between 6 and 8pm yesterday on Devils Horse. It's my favorite top water lure. I just pitched it right to the bank, let it sit for about 20 seconds and then just jiggle it so it make little waves. That's when they slam it most of the time. If not I give it a few short jerks, wait for a few seconds and then bring it in for another try. Quote
brushhoggin Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 been doing really well with a spro jr bronzeye and baby bass ribbits. buzzbaits seem to spook bass where i fish. i get bit more consistently on the less conspicuous topwater lures Quote
hookset on 3 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Yep I got four on a Popn' image Jr. two trips ago and had one blow up on a Zara Puppy the other day. Not nearly as much topwater action last time as it was post frontal though. Water has been in the mid 60s both times out. Tonight I was catching them on a Swimn' image jr. in pumpkinseed. First TW bite of the year. Way early this year. Quote
Crankhead Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I'd like to throw topwater but bass season just opened in wisconsin & the water temp on saturday was 49. For those fishing in the north, what temp is preferable before you start throwing topwater? Quote
