heyitskirby Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Haven't posted in a while. Didn't fish much last summer due to work so I didn't have much to post... But, I'll be in Fredericksburg for another couple of weeks for work....and by work I mean show up and do nothing. Figured I might see where the Shad run is best on the Rapp as they start moving in. Would the park downtown work? Any other spots? Quote
heyitskirby Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Yup, on the James at Bosher's Dam.... http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/shadcam Quote
livetofish28 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 We usually fish just below the route 1 bridge. Access to the river from the park or on the north side from the Falmouth Flats parking area. If you are staying later in the evening the park closes and gets locked but you can park outside and walk down. Quote
heyitskirby Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 We went out on Tuesday to the Falmouth Flats....a bunch of guys were fly fishing, but no one seemed to be catching anything. We certainly didn't, but it would appear too shallow unless you get out into the water.... We then moved over to the City Docks Park. Me and a coworker caught 2 Hickory Shad a piece and a guy next two us caught two as well. All fish caught on either white darts or silver spoons. Obviously fish are starting to move in, but not real thick yet. Going again today. Quote
