It's the price point I'm looking to pay, how is the performance? I'm interested in the TS1SHLMG, left hand 7.1:1 Quote
Capt.Bob Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 For the price difference I suggest the Tournament, both breaking systems magnetic and centrifugal, Better buy for the money. You have to decide what you want. Quote
29JMP29 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I got one off ebay a week ago for 100. If you can find one for that price, it's even more worth it. The reel is butttery smooth and I can't get it to backlash on the lowest brake settings. I'm gonna put 50 lb braid on it Quote
Super User Teal Posted March 31, 2013 Super User Posted March 31, 2013 Im with capt Bob, go with the Tournament SS. You can go on E bay and get it for the retail price of the MG. And if you wana add 30 bucks to what you want to spend on the retail price of the MG, you can go on E bay and get a Tourny Pro for 155. (Retail 200) MG is a good reel, but my thoughts are if you can get the tournment for the same price...then why not Quote
Diggy Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I have the exact same reel, I wasn't that fond of it at first but I love it now. I have few issues with back lashing if any..more overruns if any at all. The trick for me is to keep the spool tension a little more loose than normal. Brakes go up to 5 max now if that. The reel is smooth, really smooth. I have 12 fluoro on it for jigs and it sends them flying. The spool holds a lot of line. Like others said you can get it off the bay cheap and the more upgraded reels for around the msrp of the MG or slightly more. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I have seen the for less than $100.00 buck's but like I said earlier, I would go for the Tournament with dual breaking, I gave $105.00 for mine and if you watch you will find them going for right at that price today, I just bought the BB1 6.4 and gave $103.00 for it and seen some go for $100.00. Both of these reels perform as good as any other reel I have used costing twice as much! The Tournament Pro can be bought for the prices you are listing and is way way better, my personal belief in that reel is if your going to be any other brand to get a reel as good you going to spending over $300.00, I never pay retail and if I make a purchase like I did on the Curado G I can get every penny I paid back as long as I keep it in the same condition as I got it in. buy any of the three you keep posting on and use these guiglines and you will be sure your not stuck with something you don't like!!! HAPPY EASTER!!! don't forget to thank him today for all he gave for all of us!! Quote
ghost Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 in regards to ebay, not too many left hand models and if there are its the lower line. i can get the MG for $10 new, sos should I pull the trigger? Quote
Capt.Bob Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I have no intentions buying a Lazer SS but for $10.00 I'll buy a whole case, you better buy any Lew's you see for 10 bucks! Quote
