20lb braid is the size of 8 lb mono so I never go less than that.

I started a discussion already about leaders because they make no sense to me.  I concluded that you should NOT use a leader.

You are adding a knot.

If you use 20lb leader it is bigger than the braid.

I don't know why you would have a leader less strength than the regular line.

I do not think a braid this size can be seen by a fish.

But hey, that's just me.  I am confident someone will tell you that you MUST have a leader :)

i'm gettiing a new reel  for my new graphite and fiberglass mh rods.  I'm considering a braid because i'm gonna be ripping it through weeds and also in light cover.  I am wodering what test i should use... 20 lb?  Should a use leader, if so, mono or flouro and what test.  :flame-010:

I've used braid since it became available and I have never replaced an eye in a rod.  But maybe some people catch like a million more fish than I do.....

i dont use braid as not taking the chance on having to replace eyes on my rods...i have tried numerous lines through the years and the one i have used the last 15 is Mccoy fishing line for everything and in those years have not had it break one time...
