Diggy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Id like to go there on Sunday since the wind is a bit too much for the lake o trip. Has the fishing been productive there if anyone knows? Thanks Quote
mg4u2nv Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 went out with a friend of mine on his boat last sunday. We only boated about 12 fish, but 7 or 8 of those were 3lbs and up. Wind was BRUTAL, spent most of the day with a drift sock in the water and were still haulin ass. It was hard to make an accurate cast. Tried almost every bait i had, but all the quality fish were on spooks Matt Quote

This would be a rental boat so I assume it would be much worse than your situation. I think its forecasted 13mph Quote
mg4u2nv Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I want to say the wind was out of the south, early morning was around 10-12. As we got later in the day around noon it was easily 15-20mph. Forecast for tomorrow looks a little better, though not much. We struggled keeping good position along the pads even in a 20ft stratos. i imagine a 12 or 14ft john boat will be more difficult. i'm sure you can easily find areas that are more protected from the winds and still be productive. good luck! Super User BassinLou Posted March 29, 2013 Super User Posted March 29, 2013 The weather is going to be great this weekend. Winds will be SE 10-15 mph on Sun. If you are concerned about wind, get yourself a 10lb mushroom anchor and 12-15ft rope. That's what I have and used last month. Wind was blowing 25+ mph from the north. That was challenging especially on a 16 ft aluminum, but the fishing was awesome. We caught over 85 fish. Do not pass up this weekend. Quote
topwaterrob Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I hit Holiday today and had a blast.... Caught a bunch, missed even more.... I fished the Miami Canal North but if youre renting a boat that might be a bit far... Try the center canal.... good luck Quote
Diggy Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Sounds like great fishing can be had but already swapped plans, still going to fish tho. We will try next week. Thanks Quote
gar-tracker Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Try a sea anchor when I fished the canals it was a must. I still use it at the lake on occasion but not so much since the Talons came into play. Well worth it for any light boat or canal fisherman, slows you down perfectly. http://www.starmarinedepot.com/Jim+Buoy+18+Sea+Anchor.html?gclid=CPS03N63pLYCFUqoPAodmzEA-Q Quote
bocabasser Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 i fished the park today and crushed them. had close to 30 pounds. the topwater bite is on! ill tell locations after next weekend. it was windy today, but i prefer to fish in to the wind. Quote
Diggy Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 That sounds awesome. Probably do this shortly, def cheaper and closer than lake O for now. Quote
