Finnz922 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 What is the best prop for speed, efficiency, and thrust? I have the factory prop and the Machete prop for a Motor Guide bowmount trolling motor. I have never used the factory as the salesman said the Machete on a wireless 75 would be money on the water. I just feel that it isn't good for speed and it almost struggles in rough water. Any ideas on which props are best for what? It's on a 17' Lowe deep V. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 I have a 75 wireless (BEEPER!!!) and have a Machete II? Prop and a 2 blade that is a bit larger I don't see a lot of differance. However I think they make a Machete III that is the same diameter as my 2 blade. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 BTW mine is on a 16' Lowe and it does NOT struggle any!!! Check your batteries. Quote
Finnz922 Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Beeper for sure and sounds like a tank when turning right or left. Batteries are getting replaced this year but I was talking to some guys at the local tackle shop and they all seemed to think 2 blade props perform better. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 I am using my 2 blade but honestly I didn't notice a difference. My motor has a TON of thrust no mater what prop I use! Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 Personal choice. If you go through lots of weeds and pads you may want the three blade to cut through easier. On the other hand, if you fish open water the two blade may serve you well. I have a three blade and so far I can go fast wtih my 72 thrust Motor Guide and also get through weeds and pads when necessary. Be sure you have an extra prop accessory kit to change props if your pin snaps. Now you have to decide if you want a metal Machete 3-blade prop for your trolling motor!!! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 The "lot larger" two blade is the Safari and is the slowest prop. That one is designed for weeds. Using that prop on a 105# thrust motor gives you .6 mph less speed. Several (including me) bought that prop when it first came out and did the speed test and got the same result. Quote
