nocluefisher Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Tackle warehouse has this rod on sale for $150. I love throwing swimbait more than anything else, what will I notice differently with this compared to my veritas 6"9 mh i currently use. I have never fished a rod at 7"10' either. Not sure how comfortable it would be for me. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 What kind of swimbaits are you chucking with a short, MH rated rod? That rod is rated for 3 to 8 oz. baits. If you want to step up into bigger baits, that's a great price. Quote
nocluefisher Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 I just use the soft body 4 inch swimbaits. I am very new to technique and gear specific equipment so you will have to excuse my lack of knowledge. It sounds like it could be a good match for my curado 300 ej. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Yes, that would be a great reel for that rod. But, that setup would be too heavy for 4" soft body baits. That rod is designed for much heavier baits. Quote
nocluefisher Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 I figured I would need to go bigger on the baits if I bought that rod. Thanks for your input, the nocluefisher name is for a reason. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 That GL2 would also make a great umbrella rig rod. Quote
OkeechobeeAngler Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Just left my academy. They are marked down to 99.88-79.99. Quote
