Super User BASSclary Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 I was hoping if any of you all are praying people that you could pray for my dad. Yesterday morning about 4 a.m. while going to work he had some chest pain and when he was at work he had a heart attack or something very similar. He's been at the hospital since then and I am still here. So far everything is looking good and the few blood tests have come back negative, which is also good. It's most likely not heart disease, but stress related, but were still waiting on him to take more tests. Hopefully he'll be out of here tonight and we can get some tacos (they won't let him eat or drink because of the tests). I'll keep you guys updated but if you could please say some words for him for a full recovery. Thank you. Quote

endless Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I will do so and is their any word or did they let him come home? Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted March 29, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 29, 2013 Brought him home yesterday morning, after about the first 6 hours in the morning on Sunday we basically got no new information. All the blood work came back negative for some fancy thing (Tri-something?) so there was no need for a catheter thing to the heart to look, but they wanted to do it anyways but we declined since it wasn't necessary, and then scheduled a stress test. Well apparently they just wanted to do the catheter thing because we never got a stress test done, we decided to take him home to do it somewhere closer to home. But what I really want to know is, we were there for so long and never saw a cardiologist? 2 days and a piece and we never once saw him/her. Very disappointed in the care, but luckily so far so good as my dad is doing well and back to normal. He has a stress test scheduled with a local doctor on Monday. I would also like to thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 29, 2013 Super User Posted March 29, 2013 I'm glad you're dad is doing better, and I'm glad there was nothing in all of the tests that would prompt a visit by a cardiologist. Had there been anything outside of "normal" parameters, then they would have brought in a cardiologist. Because he didn't see the cardiologist, it doesn't mean the tests weren't seen by a cardiologist. I had a stress test done several years ago. At one point during the test, my primary care physician called a cardiologist because my heart switched from a sinus rhythm to a junctional rhythm, whatever that means. Anyway, he answered a few questions from the cardiologist after which it was determined that there was nothing to be concerned about. Health care is always between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, they are accused of doing unnecessary tests or unnecessary procedures in order to pad the bill. On the other hand there are times when patients or families feel they didn't do enough.
