Boots Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 i was sorting my tackle bag and all my plano(hard plastic) boxes that hold the lures have a lot of rust stains and dirt on them that are hard to get off with a regular rinse and scrub, has anyone ever put them in the dishwasher without them melting? was it effective? just trying to save a few bucks Quote
JeziHogg Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I don't see why I wouldn't work, did u try a magic eraser? 1 Quote
Boots Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 no i haven't, i'm looking to do as little scrubbing as possible just to many corners to get into. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 Try soaking over night in warm water in a sink with 1/2 cup of baking soda. The tackle bag can then go into a warm water clothing washer cycle and air dry. The nylon Plano boxes will clean up after soaking with a little effort using a nylon scrub brush and warm water with Simple Green soap. rinse well with warm water. Dry with paper towels, do not put nylon boxes in a hot dishes washer. Tom Quote
Super User Teal Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 1/10 solution of simple green or any degreaser type chemical worrks well for me. Ive done it a number of times. Myy dishwasher doesnt harm my tupperware containers so i would think plano boxes could stand up to the heat.....but i havent tried it. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 Maybe this stuff? I've never used it, but I know some who swear by it. You can also try a vinegar, hot water solution. Pour it in and let it soak. http://www.jelmar.com/CLRbasic.htm Quote

greyleg33 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Those boxes shouldn't be a problem in the dishwasher. Just take them out before the drying cycle. Quote
Boots Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 i ended up soaking them in oxy clean then hosed them down, they look brand new again Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 25, 2013 Super User Posted March 25, 2013 Excellent. I'll have to remember that. Quote
5fishlimit Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 After reading this last night I put a 3600 on the top rack of the dishwasher this morning before I left for work. I came home and it was fine. Lemon fresh, but fine nonetheless. Quote
