Toeshots Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I know I am late to the party on this, but I just wanted to share my experience. I had the YZ Hybrid (8# test) out for the very first time today and I must say I was very impressed with the sensitivity, castability, and manageability. The thing I liked most and what truly surprised me, however, was the seemingly minimal stretch. I tied on 6-7 different lures today and when cinching the knot, it felt very stable and there didn't seem to be much give. Very nice. I now see why this line is praised here and on other sites. I am seriously considering putting this on just about all my setups. Quote
fl_bass Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Did you have filler on your spool or did you just fill your spool? Quote
TNBassin' Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I have YZ Hybrid in 10# that I treated with some KVD LnL, and it's pretty much replaced Trilene XL for me. It's very manageable, and STRONG. I think the 10# breaks at around 14# IIRC. I hated straight fluoro, and wanted something with the softness of XL but without it becoming a sponge and soaking up water. YZ is it. Great, great line. Diggy Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Did you have filler on your spool or did you just fill your spool? I see you are in Weston, its so cheap at Sports Authority, if you can find one with a fishing dept in Broward. 12.99 for 600yds of it. I think you may have to check pines because Sawgrass doesnt have one to my knowledge anymore. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 Overstockbaits has 1lb and 3lb spools on sale. Quote
georgeyew Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I wish that they had the 8lb in the smaller spool. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 Yo-Zuri make 2 Hybrids, the original and super soft, the new line cost about 2X the original and is more manageable, less memory, then the original. Yo-Zuri is one of the line manufacturers that understates their line strength; labels 12 lb as 10 lb, when you compare line diameter verses pound test. This practice is becoming more the norm today, it gives the angler the feeling that the line is stronger and it should be, it's 0.002 or 2 lbs larger and stronger than line labeled accurately or what we were used to for the past 25 years. At the end of the day select line you have confidence with, that is the only measure that matters. Tom Quote
keith71 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Super strong line,I like the Hybrid soft for spinning applications. I am line paranoid and change it out more than I probably need to. In my own experience,I have not noticed a difference between 100% flouro and this as far as catch rate.Price point on the other hand. Quote
shootermcbob Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Very good line, IMO. the #10 breaks at 16.5 lbs and the 12 breaks at over 19 lbs....according to yo-zuri's chart. I really like the ultrasoft #6 on spinning gear (Breaks at 11.9 lbs.) and the regular #10 or #12 on baitcasting gear. I find that , at least for me, I have less backlashes on baitcasting gear with the origiinal yo-zuri. Quote

MrSwimJig Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yo-Zuri is great line, original and Ultra Soft. Treat it with some KVD L&L and its an AWESOME Line. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Sweet I got like 600yds for christmas and haven't used it yet, glad it's liked! Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 I use it for leader material, P-Line Floroclear is on most of my reels (again, leader) but YZH is a keeper. I usually have spools of both lines with me in the yak, in different pound tests. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 Yo-Zuri is good stuff the only time I have an issue with it is when I hang up. Almost impossible to break. I don't know how many tree limbs I have pulled in when I have snagged a lure. 1 Quote
craww Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 It's simply good, dependable line. Not the best at a lot of things, but good at everything; at a great price. I venture away, but always return. Quote

I broke about a 2" diameter branch last year on 8# Ultra Soft, reeled the branch and everything right to the boat.My partner asked if I had braid on my shakey head setup, when I showed him his jaw dropped.Seeing is believing, just make sure to wet your knots. tbone1993 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 My mistake was spooling it on before a tournament without using it a ton. Decent line but it is blown out of the water compared to seaguar. Quote
Silas Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Overstockbaits has 1lb and 3lb spools on sale. Good call! I bought a 1lb spool of 8# test (8000 yards) for about $22. All I can say is WOW!! Now I can respool often. Quote

Blues19 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Ive been using Hybrid for a while now. The original stuff and really like it. Ive had good success and plan on continuing using it. Most recently I've been buying Bass Pro Excell cause its so cheap and its worked pretty well. I do really like the hybrid and i think i catch more fish when i am using it. Quote
